What do you do when you can't sleep?

Drink some Robitussin, it puts me out fairly quick.  I have sleep apnea and have irregular sleeping patterns.  Last night I didn't go to sleep till 5 in the morning and I wasn't even partying, just laying on the couch wide awake.  I enjoy reading suspense and horror novels and can read for hours without getting tired, but if I want to go to sleep I try reading one of my wife's Jude Devereaux books or something like that.  Seriously, I put forth an honest attempt to read what enthralls my wife and I'm dozing off in a couple minutes.

I litsen to soft music it helps me relax and get my mind off things which are keeping me up. Or i drink a cup of chamomille tea which is also good for helping you relax.

When i can't sleep, I usually grab a book and start reading.  If that doesn't work, I get up and get on the computer for awhile or watch t.v.

The Best thing I have found to help is "CLEANING"  yep I start cleaning from top to bottom.  From one room to the next

I try and do this relaxing technique my husband taught me. You place your tongue in the middle of your mouth where it doesn't touch the bottom or roof of your mouth. Then starting with your toes, picture and feel yourself relaxing. Work from your toes to your feet to your calves, and continue working all the way up. I never even make it to my arms before it puts me to sleep. I think it's because it makes my mind and body shut down so I can actually fall asleep and sleep well.

It’s not the first time this topic have been posted here. How do you get insomnia? ??? I wish I can stay up all night and not sleep at all. I rarely suffer from insomnia. If I can’t sleep, I meditate in the dark. Within 10-15 minutes I’ll pass out zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.  :P

I suffer from bouts of insomnia so instead of getting frustrated about not sleeping I always have a few good books and lots of extra housework to catch up on
