Unplugged. . .
« on: July 09, 2011, 09:41:16 am »
This week, my kids got in trouble and I took away their privilege of watching TV, playing video games, and using computers for a few weeks. They have been very creative and found lots of other ways to occupy themselves after the initial shock of being media-deprived subsided. They've also had an easier time getting a long. It's not like I let them use the media endlessly, only an hour or two a day. What a difference NO media made! The only downside is that there are scraps of paper, toys, and other things messing up my house. I'm sure an hour or so will be all it takes to clean up what they  left behind! Have you ever taken away media from your kids?

My sons are 10, 9, 6, and 4, so the 4 year old is not much different than your 3 year old. They're reluctantly getting the board games, scissors, papers, card games, paper cups for stacking, and magic tricks cleaned up.
