The last space shuttle launches today.  What do you think of the space program ending?

Well, I'm going to be real sad if it is ending! But from what I heard, it's not the program that's ending, it's just the retirement of the space shuttles themselves. For the time being, American astronauts will be have to use Russian-based shuttles. But I really hope the program isn't ending because that would suck! We need space exploration!

It is the end of space exploration, my friend. Your favorite president Obama decided that NASA should go around making foreign countries feel good about their past contributions to space. It's ridiculous and emblematic of what our president is all about.

Its a great way to save money by stopping it but there will be many folks out of work, 30,000 people are losing their jobs and it is going to be rough on them.

Now the government can use the $$$$$ that's suppose to go to the space program to create jobs for the millions of Americans that are out of work.

Hmmm, I find it weird...Is it because we need the money or space isn't worth exploring anymore?...I don't know, it's weird...but it's good that billions of dollars could now be spent on other things.

Sad.  The United States used to lead the way in technology, but at least other countries can still pick up the slack.

It may cost a lot of money, but it was a symbol to Americans and the rest of the world that The United States would lead the charge in exploration, innovation, creativity, drive..you get the picture.

Sadly, with the polluting of the world, and extreme overpopulation around the globe, the most intelligent minds on our planet have said the only way to the future of our species in the long run is through space exploration and colonization.

I think it's important stuff, and it's troubling that it is coming to an end without a plan to move forward with the next step in this frontier.

I'm sad that it's ending. I've always had an interest in space and what they find.

Too bad the space program is ending but everything changes. I sure hope that the government will put the money where it is needed but I have my doubts.

My Mother and Niece and Nephew were there to see it. I'm glad they were.
I think it is a shame it's ending. There were many contracts that have been in place for several years and now it's all gone Talk about wasted money. They could have just cut the budget  instead of ending it.
I know the program will come back but in the mean time what a loss!

I grew up with the space program. I am sory to see to see it end as well.  I sometimes fear that recent actions are making America less that it used to be.  I remember when they used to stop classes, roll in the TV and we would all watch the astronauts or moon landing or orbiting the earth.  Sometimes we even got out of school to go home and watch.  Guess those days of amazement are over.

It is sad that our space program as we know it, has ended. Some say the gov't will make jobs with the saved money, but gov't workers really can't technically "make jobs." It would be great if we could see fewer taxes on businesses and consumers so that the consumers will spend more and the businesses will have more money to hire employees.

I wonder if the people in the space program will discover more efficient so they can continue the careers they love and we'll see more wonderful things in the future.
