Just got back from the fireworks in our local park. Very crowded this year, maybe a lot of people stayed close to home.

it was good...lots of free junk food and fireworks....

interesting 4th of July coincidence: both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the only signers of the Declaration of Independence later to serve as Presidents of the United States, died on the same day: July 4, 1826, which was the 50th anniversary of the Declaration.

Other interesting facts related to presidents and 4th of July: James Monroe, the Fifth President of the United States, died on July 4, 1831.
Calvin Coolidge, the Thirtieth President, was born on July 4, 1872 (so far is the only President to be born on Independence Day).

It was pretty good. I went walking on the trail by my house with a friend. We walked all the way down and saw some cool artwork on the walls. Then I watched the fireworks from my front porch.

I had to work a double shift   :'(     so my boss could have a BBQ with his family!  BUT; the good news is
they kept bringing me so much food to say thanks; that now I have a Belly Ache!!
(or was that the "bad news"?) :sad1:

We cooked pork chops on the grill and watched baseball on TV. We found some sour cream with jalepeno peppers in it for our baked potatoes. YUM! It was a typical "old Folks" day but very relaxing. :)

Thanks for sharing these interesting facts.  Uncanny how the births and deaths of that many of our presidents fell on July 4.

Our 4th of July was relaxing.  We did some odd jobs around the house.
Played Bean Bag in the backyard,
Grilled some steaks,
and had a bonfire.

Due to financial strain we were unable to afford fireworks for ourselves this year. However, my 9 year old son and I went out on the back porch and watch others fire off theirs. It was nice, and relaxing.  :)

It was fun...I stayed home and watched the neighbors fireworks. It sounded like a war zone cause fireworks were going off from all sides.

Mine was great.  Had my son and his family up from Ft. Hood and we BBQ'd a couple of briskets, went out to the lake and met some friends who took us out on their boat and let the younger ones tube behinde the boat so everybody got to keep cool and wet.  Than after the sun went down we watched the fireworks out on the lake.
