I would like to know how does everyone feel about the gay marriage being passed in the united states? do you agree or disagree?

It's not passed within the whole US. Where did you get that? It's only passed in certain states. It passed in NY, and joins the other 4 states that passed the same bill. Doesn't mean everybody is going to accept it, or must. I for one will never marry a same sex couple.....ever

This law passed with the stipulation that the Christian community does not have to adhere to a same sex couple demanding to be married in a Christian church. Any Christian leader can refuse without any legal retaliation. That keeps it localized within the gay community, and not forced on those who have opposing views.

California voted no on Prop. 8 on the ballot, but gay groups took the peoples decision and tried to overturn it in the California courts, citing their first amendment rights are violated. That can work both ways, as the people who want nothing to do with the gay lifestyle cannot be forced to accept it either.

I think that it is definitely something that would be good for our society as a whole. Many gay couples have been adopting children or having children within their relationships and so I think that the legality of marriage is needed to bring stability and protection to the families that are being formed. We can't ignore the fact that something is needed for them to be able to have the legal rights within their family that a married couple has.

The only laws of domestic partnerships regarding children that I can find on-line only mention California's laws. The way that California's law reads it is essentially marriage (in the legal form) and would protect the family as well as marriage would. I would like to see these laws applied nationwide as I believe that it would benefit everyone.

I beleive that if two people want to get married whether you are the same sex or not you should be able to get married, no one should be able to tell them whether they can get married or not.

People should be allowed to get married regardless of their sexuality, if no one accepts it, it will become as bad as segregation in a form.

You are incorrect. California put Prop 8 on the ballot and the people of California voted NO on it. No gay marriage or rights to same sex couples. Marriage is defined as between a man and a woman. I live in California and voted on that ballot. The gay community is trying to overthrow that "No" vote and it is still tied up in the courts. A gay judge ruled against it, and said the no vote violated their first amendment rights. That ruling has been thrown out, and the gay community is appealing on other grounds.

As it stands today, there is no legal gay marriage approved in the State of California. Children are protected under California state law wether they are in a gay partnership or not. Gay couples are not given the benefits as a marriage between a man and a woman. Like the law reads today. There is no "legal form" of marriage between same sexes in California.
