Unemployment

The way unemployment rate has gone up in new york is ridiculous. I hope and pray to God that the situation turns around for the best.  We need more jobs.

The unemployment rate is getting ridiculous all around the country and something has to change. There are jobs out here for single people but you have to look very hard and sometimes settle for something you don't even want. However, for those with children and families, it's even worse. There aren't too many jobs out here for blue collar workers that provide any types of benefits at all and that's important for those who are trying to take care of their families. Hopefully things will begin to get better soon because I don't believe they can get any worse than they are now (unless we go into some sort of depression, then may God help us all).

That is exactly how it is around here, tons of people complaining about no work but they don't want to settle so in some respect they are doing it to themselves.  On the other hand thou, if you are able to qualify for assistance, then you end up taking that $8/hr job you may lose it because suddenly you are making too much money. In the end it is the children that are suffering

Definitely with you there!  When my husband lost his job, our rent went down to $67 a month and our food stamps up to over $500.  When I started working, supporting my family of three, our rent went up to $475 a month and our food stamps down to less than $100.  Was it worth it for me to go back to work?  Of course it was, but it does make things more difficult.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one really noticing this change! It's so ridiculous that you have one foot in the grave before anyone helps you! Meanwhile, there are all these commercials about the hungry and needy around the world but WE AMERICANS can't even get any of the assistance that we're sending to other nations! I mean if we're all gone who will watch those commercials then! Don't get me wrong, I feel for those people, but we have just about the same situation going on in our OWN COUNTRY!
