Those on a Limited Income
« on: June 22, 2011, 11:29:01 pm »
I am on a limited income due to being disabled and not yet approved for disabilty does anyone have any advice how to survive on less than 700.00 a month with everything going up so much.  I live in southern Missouri, so its general less expensive to live her but I am having a hard time.  I already get help with food and housing but its not enough, especially with are cars always breaking down and gas prices.  I spend a lot of time at home cuz I can't doing anything else.  I live in the boonies, with no car, no money, and now the government took away the little help I was getting for electric.  I am just over welmed.  :o

I think you are posting this in the wrong place but living on a fixed income is hard enough without being disabled on top of it. You said you were getting some help already why not ask these people for some suggestions as they know your exact situation much better than any of us on this forum could.

I too, am disabled and on an limited income. I would suggest that you check what resources are available to you in your area. I am sorry you live in the boonies as that probably makes it harder to get out and socialize. I do however, use this and other sites and make money. It DOES help pay bills! If you need help with this, you may contact me.

I too suggest doing your best to contact resources in your area.  I would also check in with local churches.  I have no idea whether you have a religious affiliation or not, but that shouldn't matter.  Many churches will either be able to help you in some way or at the least get you in touch with resources that can help you.  Our church never turns anyone in need.  They may help with a meal or something and then they get in touch with another organization represented by our church that helps those in need.  This organization in turn helps them as well and gets them in touch with resources.  They may even have a meal on wheels program where you can have food delivered to you.

Also, if you have to stay home due to your disability, my suggestion is that you learn everything you can about earning an income online.  Follow oldbuddy's posts on this forum.  He has some great ideas and information about making money online.  There are many other tips by other members here too.  I am also doing what I can to learn about making money online.  I am not disabled, but I need to be home for my 5 kids, but also need to bring in an income.  This economy is horrible and is making it difficult for many people these days.  I wish you the best.

i'm disabled also, it's rough for sure!  cking with the churches is a good idea, sometimes you can get your food thru there and then you'll have $$ for other stuff.  i did get ssd, i'm sure you've already done an online search of what missouri has to offer for those in this situation, but dig deeper via internet or phone calls to agencies that provide services.  if you're religious at all this line often helps me get thru tough mental times

I am on unemployment due to layoffs and trying to survive. best thing is checking with your local area for resources.
