Men and domestic duties
« on: June 18, 2011, 02:49:35 am »
How many of you men out there cook, clean and do other things like help with the children.  Are you married or single.  With children? Were you taught at home to clean up after yourself and do house hold chores or did you have to learn after you became an adult and how do you feel about the man/woman role?
I think this needs to be moved to debate and discuss but i don't think I can move it>

Well....I'm single now so I do all the chores in my home. But I was once married with children and then I helped with just about everything, including getting up in the middle of the night when my child cried.  :icon_rr:

My boyfriend does all the vacuuming because I hate it - he does his own laundry and does dishes every once in a while - I'm the one who cooks though, cause I'm better.

I gave my son household chores starting at 6yrs old.  Now he owns his own home and is annoyingly clean.

I have a 10 year old son. I do have him help me with cleaning. He does the windows, washing dishes and other things. I think it's important to have him help. He doesn't complain too much. I think it will instill in him how important it is to do domestic duties. I only hope he continues once he is out on his own.  ;)

My husband is absolutely wonderful at helping with household chores, including laundry, dishes, cooking, etc. He always has been. The flip side is that he has always expected me to work outside the home. I told him early on if he wanted me to continue working after the kids came along, he would need to do his fair share around the house. And he definitely has!

it's good to hear so many positive things
about men and chores, lol

my fiance is a wonderful helper-outer
with household stuff, too. we take turns
doing the dishes/vacuuming/generally
picking up the place.

we both hate cleaning the bathroom, though.
that'll never change!
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

dh helps around the house, although it's probably not as much as he thinks he does.

I cook, clean and cherish every moment I can share with my children (I am a male).  Even when I am working two full-time jobs I contribute by cooking at least twice a week, cleaning for several hours, and trying to attend all of the children's activities.  I have always been there for my kids and have reaped the benefits of there trust, love and admiration.  Yesterday, being Father's day, was more special to me than my own birthday because I went hiking, out to lunch, and watched a movie with my whole family intact.

I think that anybody who has a son should teach them from an early age how to do domestic chores.  Everybody should know how to cook and clean a house.  My grandsons can do some cooking, can do laundry, dishes and clean.  Actually, one of them can do more than some cooking.  They are in college now.

My husband helps out alot around the house. He does laundry sometimes, bathrooms, and many other things to help out. I'm also teaching my 11 yr old responsibilitys. He has a chore list that he must check everyday after he's done with a chore. This wrks so much better , this way I dnt have to keep reminding him that today is trash day or make sure you take out the recyclables. It's important to enstill cleanliness in your children early, I feel.

  Thank you.  Men listen up.  I wonder if any men on here would actually admit to not doing anything to help around the house.
