I have had hits and misses on ebay.  I collect costume jewelry and I love grab bags.  I got some really good grab bags from one seller.  But that seller no longer sells grab bags and I believe has left ebay.  I bought some other grab bags from other sellers and got junk.  I got burned.  I am afraid to buy on ebay any more although I keep checking.  "Buyer Be Aware".   I also use craigslist to buy and sell.  And that has gone downhill since I began.  There are a lot of scammers and spammers both buying and selling.   :crybaby2: :dontknow: :BangHead:

I've never been cheated when buying something on EBay but it's been a few months since I bought anything.  As was mentioned earlier in this thread I only buy from sellers with very high approval ratings.  I haven't had much luck trying to sell on there.

I have checked it out a few times, but have always been afraid to bid on something in case I got stung.  I guess I will stay away from it.  I would love to find a good place where I could sell books.  I have a lot of them.

I have bought about 35 things on eBay and have never had a problem. I also stick with the experienced and highly rated sellers. I force myself to stay within my set limit though when it comes to bidding. I have watched people buy used items for almost double the price of what they could find the item new on a 'regular' site like Amazon or Overstock. I love Amazon and Overstock. You usually can't beat the prices and the shipping fees are great and often zero. I only buy under the "FREE Super Saver Shipping" on Amazon also because I rarely fall under the $25 limit to qualify for that.

I use eBay almost daily.  Mostly as a seller.  The fees are a little high, but where else can you sell just about anything to anyone in the entire world... the fees are like your advertising or marketing budget... and they are well spent if your item sells.

On the negative side, the buyers have the run of the place now.  Unless you send an item with a tracking number, they can just claim they never got the item and PayPal makes you return their money.  Also, the sellers can't leave ngative feedback on buyers which leaves sellers in the dark if the buyer is a repeat scammer.

All in all it is the best way to sell lots of stuff... like anything, if you do your research and are honest, you will make money.

I agree completely with Joeyramone. Buyers have the complete run of the place. I wish ebay could return to the way it was say 8-10 years ago. That's when times were good and sellers were valued. But, I take it with a grain of salt & keep selling.

I have never used ebay myself.

And I get mixed reviews from friends/family/coworkers that have used it.

About half of them either love it and use it all the time and the other have of them say that they have been scammed too many times.

So, due to those odds I really have no desire to use it.

Maybe if I start to hear better things about it, I will change my mind, because it does sound like a fun site.

I've used Ebay for a long time. I've sold quite a few things and bought about just as much. I've had a few instances where there were problems with my purchase, but these things happen no matter where you buy something from. With just a bit of wisdom and know how you can avoid most any scams on Ebay. I don't use it as often as I use too, though, since I haven't really needed to buy anything I couldn't get at a store.

I have used Ebay for years....as both a buyer and a seller.  It has changed over the years..selling  is more difficult and more costly than it use to be..you just have to be careful..and really read the information about the item.  You can learn a lot by checking a sellers feedback. But if you do a little research into what your shopping for you often times can get awesome deals.  And sometimes you just have to be patient and wait for the right deal to come along.  We shopped for quite a while for an iRobot ...which to buy a new one would have cost several hundreds of dollars...found one on ebay for about $60 and it works great..and though the dogs are not thrilled about it, we love it.

I don't use eBay too much anymore unless I am looking for a really hard to find item. I prefer Amazon.

I like ebay because of the $ protection and you have your choice of selling for a flat price or setting up an auction.
