Straight Talk Pre Paid Cell Phone Service
« on: June 07, 2011, 05:19:36 am »
Sorry to post 2 similar posts but I am needing info on cell service.  I need to go cheaper but have enough minutes.  I have been looking at the Straight talk from Walmart and wonder if it has good reliable service.

I've had Straight Talk for over a year.  I haven't had any problems.  I pay $30 a month for 1000 minutes and 1000 texts.  I just have the basic LG phone I only talk and text and I don't need all that other fancy stuff.  I don't use my phone a lot so it's perfect for me.  It was the cheapest plan around at the time.  Before that I had Virgin Mobile for several years.  I liked them but their prices kept going up I had a minute plan and it was getting more expensive so I switched to ST.  I'm thinking of switching back to VM only because I like their phones better.

yes straight talk is a wonderful service, my husband and i both use it however they have two types of phones one uses ATT towers and one uses Verizon towers. My husband has the Verizon type straight talk phone and i have the ATT type straight talk phone. Due to where we live, I don't get good reception. The only way you can tell if it is ATT or Verizon towers is if it uses a Sim card or not.

I got a Tracfone at Wal-mart several years ago and still have it.  I have to add a minutes card every three months to keep the service going and the same phone number, but that's just $20, so $80 per year.  They have a selection of phones and you can get bigger minutes cards than I get, for more money.  You can add minutes online or on the phone.  They have a year card, but it's cheaper to get four 60 minute cards.  It uses the Verizon towers.  My phone is a Nokia and after eight years it's still going strong.  :star:

We have had verizon for over 8 years, we  are looking into no contract plans also. Hopefully trying to cheapen up the
phone bill.

I think when my Verizon contract runs out I will look into switching if I can save money.
