cats or dogs. which make the best companions?

I think any pet makes a good companion. I just happen to be a dog person.

First of I am a dog person. I up with dogs But one of my many jobs was housesitting where I cared for many animals including cats. There are some cats that are very affectionate and are great companions but most cats I found are loners.
Dogs are very loyal and affectionate and make the best companions!

I think both cats and dogs can be great companions.
Each has their own personality; so it depends on the individual animal.

Some cats love to sit on your lap and be petted.  Others prefer to be
left alone.

Same with dogs.  There are lap dogs; then there are hyper dogs who
can't sit still.

I've got one of those down the street.  Dog can't be still for a minute but it doesn't help that the only time she gets out of her box is when she's chained up outside

I have never been an animal person. I don't mind people (including dates, gf's, SO's) with pets but they are not for me.

 I think that it depends on the owner, How active the pets owner is daily. If you want to have a dog you must be more active than if you want to have a cat.

i really like both (well, i like pretty much ALL animals :p)
but i think that dogs just have bigger personalities somehow.

i'm not a fan of cats they see :dog:m very boring and for old people, but dogs are fun and always active and secure your home, i would really love to have one but my mom is scared of dogs

I'm not a fan of animals unless it's rare and on my plate....lol  Seriously, some people are animal people, but I'm not. Could be because of severe allergies to animal dander. However, Jcribb has a picture on her posts of a sneaky cat that makes me laugh every time I see it.

Most undomesticated animals, fish and foul, are for eating. So in that sense, yes, I like animals. We raised our own food (cattle, pigs, chickens, rabbits, etc.) and slaughter day was a good day. We hunted our own Venison, Moose, Mountain Sheep, Elk, Pheasants, Quail, Ptarmigan, etc,. Fished Halibut, Salmon, Trout, Cod, etc. If the economy starts getting worse, may have to get my son to take me hunting again. I'm not an enthusiast when it comes to hunting or camping (no likey), but will do so to fill the freezer.

Cats are the best companion if you don't expect too much of them. They are only affectionate when they want to be and are easy to take care of. But if you want a pet that gives you more attention a dog is what you need.
