I know I don't like when I have to use a different ATM then the one at my bank. It hurts to see that you lose a few bucks. But I guess it all makes since because in a way it is in the best interest of the bank. Plus if you think about it is a way for the other bank to advertise for you to consider using their bank instead.

I cant argue with a 3.00 dollar fee for using a atm... There arent many banks that would not charge a fee.

I live in a small town that my bank is not located in and one time couldn't make it in to pull out cash. I knew I'd have a fee, ended up being $5 maybe $6 between both banks. Kind of a hassle but that is the price you pay for convenience.

I'd find another bank to deal with. Banks are always looking for new and creative ways to keep more of your money.

I use a credit union. The debit card charges are reimbursed at the end of the month as long as I have enough direct deposits and use the "credit" option a certain amount of times in a month.

You can find me on Youtube!

Read everything you get in the mail from your bank. A lot of banks are charging for services that they never did before. I have an all inclusive Checking/savings, that charges NO fees whatsoever for anything. I do get charged for ordering foreign currency and buying it for the country's exchange rate that day.

If you don't like your banks fees, contact any upper management for a better rate plan. You would be surprised how they can bend "policy" when they want to. Credit cards are the same way. Call your CC company and tell them that you want a better finance rate. They won't lower it much...maybe 2-3 points, but after 3 months (90) days, call them again and ask again. Repeat after another 90 days. Just make sure you are up to date on your payments. It doesn't hurt to put an extra $25 a month over the monthly payment every month. That shows you are a serious, committed customer, and want to be recognized for it.

The way some banks and CC companies are gouging their customers is wrong. However, you can call them on it. They can only say no. Do your homework and shop around. Banks are competitive (especially now), and don't want to lose customers.

if you cant go to your atm then go to a store and buy like something cheap and use your card as debit and get cash back. It saves you the 3 dollar fee. This is what I do when I cant get to my atm. Just a suggestion

Credit Unions are the exact same way. They will charge like a $2.00 fee if it's not them. Also, mine started charging .75 per transaction at a store unless you use it as a credit card, which then you sign and won't be charged. It's silly in a way, but they're actually looking after your best interest. So, when I purchase something I always use it as a credit card and sign. As for the ATM fee... I never use it unless i go to my credit union. As for my banks, I never get charged a fee from them for anything. I would shop around for another bank if I was ever charged a fee. The credit union I keep around for several reasons. Yes, I have to sign every time I use it, but they have very low fees on any kind of loans and life insurance. If I wanted a loan I can call up and have it within that hour. If I use my card too much in a day they call me to ensure it's actually me using the card. If they know a place is a fraud and I try to spend money with them (like online) they will stop payment and call me. They keep tabs all the time and are great about it.
