Memorial Day Sales
« on: May 27, 2011, 01:21:15 pm »
Ok, I know this might sound odd at first, but I do not like the idea of Memorial Day sales. Hear me out: Memorial Day is supposed to be the day we remember those who have fought to protect our freedom of this great country. It honors both those who have fought and died and those who have fought and lived. Memorial Day is not really a celebration, like the Fourth of July or anything. It is meant to simply be a day of remembering. So what we do with that? Make it into SALES SALES SALES!! I just don't think it's the kind of day we should "celebrate" with a sale. Maybe it's just me, who knows.

I agree that it's pretty tacky.  It's like having a Pearl Harbor day sale.  I still bought something, though.   :BangHead:

I agree.... it is sort of morbid to have a sale for this holiday..... but we do!

I agree with you, but someone wants to make money somewhere.

I kind of agree! It seems like whenever we have a day off (like day after Thanksgiving too) it seems to turn into an excuse to go shopping....we complain we don't have days off, but yet we never seem to take advantage, or really appreciate/recognize them and their significance.
