Yes if I had the money I'd go back to school.  I don't want to take out loans either.  I already have a degree but I consider that practically worthless so I'd like to go get a degree that actually pays money.

There are plenty of free education websites. One of my favorites is http://www.khanacademy.org/

I'm going to an art school right now and Im realizing more and more that there is an abundance on information on the internet that would be just as beneficial as school. All one would need is a very disciplined and motivated personality to first find the resources to learn what they want to and then stick to following them. They don't even need to be online classes or step-by-step tutorials, you can learn from everything. I mean even if you're watching a speedpainting video on youtube of a very talented artist, you could just play the video a bit, pause it, mimic what he did, and repeat. Getting good at art (and most things in live) means repetition, just do it constantly and your mind and body will just absorb it into their memory and become better at it.

Also the Public Library (also free like the internet) has a ton of great resources for teaching yourself everything from anatomy to history to medicine to literature to stock trading to programming. Ive picked up a book there called teach yourself games programming it was a very thin book, i read it and followed its lessons in about a week and now I know how to make games, program physics, particles and all that fun stuff with C++. In just a week! Totally free!

From what I understand teach yourself has a whole series of over 500 books covering tons of subjects and if they're all as easy as this one I'll probably get a more advanced programming book from them and perhaps ballroom dancing  ;D

I would not, because I do not need a larger student loan. If the education was free to me, then maybe I would.

i wouldn't. i do not need an added expense, especially for something that is just going to take me away from the most important thing in life, my family. furthermore, the main purpose of furthering an education would be to enhace or improve your career but the only "work" i do is stay-at-home mom and there's no college for that

I have been thinking about going back to school.  But at 50, I don't know if the time put in will be worth the outcome.  I just recently lost my job after working 31 years.
Have a wonderful day!
