I think they are equally harmful, spray tans are better.

I agree, I wouldn't do either. If you want to be tan go with the spray tan or the self tanner at the store. Especially if you're like me, you don't tan you just burn in the sun.

Neither.  I use to love getting a nice dark tan (natural way) but can't do that any more due to health conditions.  I never gave it a thought about how over exposure to the sun can damage your body when I was younger.  Skin cancer is very high among those who over expose their skin to UV rays.  I had a spray on tan once, courtesy of my daughter for Mother's Day.  I said once because that's all there will be ~ after the embarrassment of a young skinny girl spraying my near naked body with cold spray to the streaking after I got sweaty at church ~ I learned that I never wanted that again.
Have a wonderful day!

I don't think any are safe. I'm ok with me the way I am. I do tend to get some color when I'm outside in summer, but don't specifically try to get a tan.  :)

NEITHER one is safe.  I live in a rural area and know people who have skin cancer just from working outside with no protection.

I am not sure which is technically safer, but I use a tanning bed. I usually go two or three times a week. Once summer starts that will slow down since I will be outside in the sun more. Gotta be smart about it!

I spent a lot of time in the sun when I was young & between that & smoking, I'm paying for it now with lots of wrinkles but not yet health problems.

I don't think either are safe and I don't think those immediate tans work well either. I do tan outside, used to use the tanning bed too. I used to use the tanning bed just to get a base tan so I wouldn't burn in the sun. Other than that, I don't use anything to "help" me tan but I don't protect myself either.

I don't bother working to intentionally get a tan;  I often take my dog on short (10 min) walks a few times a day.  I end up getting a light tan that way.

I don't think laying around intentionally to get a tan is safe no matter how you do it.  Just let in come slowly and naturally; if you're out in the sun (even if you have sunblock on), you'll eventually get one.

tanning outside in moderation is better than tanning beds tanning beds are the worst thing for you to do. I actually use a self tanner and i love it no streaking and no orange its great
