Nope. Though I'm glad that the person is wishing good fortune onto others, I think they're an excuse to not help out.
Indeed !

This is a heated topic. Prayers are powerful for the ones that believe in it. Since I am a believer in prayer, I would say that prayer has been a strong source of survival for my family, my friends, and myself. I must say that it's not the prayer itself that makes it so powerful but it is the strength of your faith that gives it the strength to deliver whatever it is you desire. As far as praying for others (whether they believe or not) will show your gratitude for others. Like the Bible states, "Prayer is the key and faith unlocks the door". With this said, don't stop praying but also believe in what you are praying about and you will see the power of prayer!  :angel11:

I think that prayers are very powerful. Never underestimate the power of prayer. What people do not always realize is that prayer is meant for things that you need not what you want. You might need money for your monthly bills but that doesnt mean that you are going to win the lottery.

jrdawson,
I like the way you put that.  I try to remind young people or anyone else, including myself, that God does answer prayers.  Like you said His answer is for what the person needs to help them.  He always answers prayer by saying "Yes," "No," or "Maybe Later."

:angel11: you're so right, jcribb.  I have to keep reminding myself that there isn't just "yes" or "no" answers but the "maybe later" exists as well.  I've been praying since Sept '10 for an answer/solution to my job situation.  (I have applied and re-applied to a minimum of 5 jobs a day since Sept. 10 and NOTHING.)  I have a job and it was going fairly well and then things started slowing down more and more.  I'm getting 17-20 hours a week and the bills have been piling up.  I have until June 1 to get a BIG answer to prayer or one of my beloved pets will need to be put down as it's impossible to keep up with the expenses of a horse with such minimal amount of income coming in.  (I've checked into rescues and shelters and I'd rather end it for him than take a chance on him getting into the wrong hands and suffering later.)  Hopefully His "no's" and "maybe later's" will be a yes soon but if not, I know He knows best.  It's been a sad & stressful time and ONLY God can fix this, and I believe He will.

I'll pray with you, Sheryl.  I'm in the same boat - today is the last day of my current job.  And bills don't pay themselves, that's for sure!  At the very least, when I leave it with the Lord, it takes a lot of burden off of this "worry-wart basket case."

If something gives comfort to other people, what's wrong with it? Ridiculing it only makes you look small and petty.
