I doubt that anyone who lived through the late 70's with OPEC & double-digit inflation would even consider that there are signs that the economy is recovering.  Coming off the downturn we've experienced, it's hard to believe we're not facing really bad times ahead.

Going from bad to worse.  Any government indicators that can't be manipulated are all looking worse.  The only reason the unemployment rate isn't higher is that the administration changed the numbers n the formula.  Gallup's unemployment numbers are much more accurate and at over 10%.  We are still facing tax hikes, an energy crisis, runaway government debt, and government healthcare... none of which will help anything recover.  The coming budget fight will be key.  If it is as pathetic as the last deal a few weeks ago, we are in serious trouble.  We spend about $8 billion a day and borrow 40% of it.  Not sustainable.

I do not think the economy has recovered.  It is a scary thought when you think about when it may start to move forward.

Our economy has been devastated by the excessive spending of our present administration. It will be a long time before we see meaningful recovery.

Finally, someone who actually knows what they are talking about. Has anyone checked the spending that Obama has pushed forward since he took office? Sorry, but making Bush account for that just is not fair. Educate yourself, before making broad statements that the media has force fed you.

I doubt that anyone who lived through the late 70's with OPEC & double-digit inflation would even consider that there are signs that the economy is recovering.  Coming off the downturn we've experienced, it's hard to believe we're not facing really bad times ahead.

I lived it in the seventies. I remember getting up at 4:00 am, and driving to the gas station to get in line for gas in the morning. By that time, there was already a line of cars with sleeping people in them. We knew that at 7:00 am, the station opened and they would "pump" all their gas in 2-3 hours....then that would be it for the day. Some gas stations couldn't even get supplied. Finding out which stations had gas to sell was a scavenger hunt. The inflation was horrible. It was rumored that the tankers couldn't off load in the storage tanks because they were already full....OPEC/Government control?

However, things are worse now in different and various other ways, that were not even thought of back then, and I don't see a recovery on the horizon. We've been taken to the brink a few times before and recovered, but now? It's a different scenario with a different feel. I believe we are in this for the long haul, and may never fully recover. Don't want to be a doomsday prophet, but all the fat cat spending and lining their pockets have taken it's toll over the years, and the people don't have anymore "surplus" to pull them out. It's a domino effect. The momentum has gotten to the point that we may not be able to walk back from the abyss.

This isn't exactly the "change" the people were looking for Mr. President. And those who would blame Bush for this mess we are facing today, you haven't done your homework. You going to have to dig a bit deeper than what the media force feeds you to find out real truth about what is being "pushed" by our present President with his own agenda. Educate yourself. Don't let the media do it for you.
