no real advice... but it's a lovely thing to do
I will say be patient as I have had friends for which the adoption process took a significant amount of time

I applaud you and wish you luck.  I have a niece who adopted an infant in an open adoption.  It worked out really well.  The child is now a lovely six-year-old, the apple of her parent's eye.  The birth mother eventually discontinued seeing the child at all.  I hope you will consider adopting an older child.  They REALLY need love.

I would also recommend an older child or at least a child from the foster system. There are so many in need. Also I would consider any child even outside your race . What you are doing is a wonderful thing!  :)

MY WIFE AND I ARE CONSIDERING ADOPTION.ANY ADVISE?

I think it's great that you're thinking of saving an unwanted child to be part of you're family. Just make sure you are truly serious about this, this is not pet from the shelter.
1. decide what age you are considering. A lot of the times older children are never adopted b/c Parent wana bes want a baby or a toddler to adopt.
2. Consider what type of race you child would be. Do you care if he/she is african american, asian, hisapanic, indian.....
3. When you decided to pick the child make sure you check the child's background/history. Many fosters kids have experienced horrors & abuse beyond repair. Are you willing to up with this child's short-comings?
4. Do you have the time & energy to raise this child. Remember this is a child not a puppy that you can put in the kennel when you're too busy to play w/him.
5. Can you afford to raise the child. Basic needs, school, clubs,college......
