It is highly unlikely that putting a link anywhere without some compelling copy to convince people to take action will get many refferals. The best way I have found is to find people online who click ads for a penny anyway and show them how they can make a dime for posting in this forum in about the same amount of time.

For me, I am on several gaming websites, and I just keep the banner in my signature and I have gotten a few that way. I also printed out business cards and let them in bulletin boards, which got me a few more.

Try blogging and honestly talking about how great FC is and what you've accomplished with it, and then post your link. If people can tell you're being real, and not just some spammer or advertising company, they'll be intrigued!
