What about a License to be a Parent? If Parents to be want kids; they go through a license to be parent course & would help the kid's future. If they worked to get the license they may appreciate the the kid brought into this world more because they had to work to get the right to be parents. What do you think, should Parenting courses be mandatory for all wanting parent licensing? Having kids is not a Right, it's a Privilege.

Everyone has the right to be a parent whenever they choose to. I don't agree with a license to bear children. That's what the abortions are for. Although, I don't agree with that either but to each her own.

I'd disagree.  Everyone has the right to be a parent.  The last thing I would want is for the government to tell us how to raise our children.

I would have to disagree as well... Everyone has the right to do what they want with their own body whether it be have children or not..  How would you suggest a license to have children be enforced? Why not a license to have sex? (which I don't agree with either) Or would you prefer that any woman that doesn't have a license be forced to have an abortion? That sounds a bit barbaric to me.  The problem with negligent parents isn't due to them being able to have children, its more their parents failure to teach them how to be good parents.  Also there are many different types of parenting styles which are proven to be effective who decides whats good and bad?  I for one sure wouldn't want the government deciding for me.  Not to mention every child is different, one style of parenting might work for one child and not another.  I understand that their are a lot of parents out their that don't care for their children but thats why we have child protective services.  Its sad that some children have to suffer but I don't think having a license would change that.

i agree to a certain extent that it would be riduculous if we had to havwe a license to have chilren. however on the other hand.......i am adopting a lil girl that i have had since birth. the girl that had her...had already birthed 4 other crack babies besides her. she went on to have 3 more crack babies after her. when exactly does the mercy for the children come?

Ok handing out a license is a bit ridiculous however that is not to say that I don't tease saying "just cause you can bear kids doesn't mean you should". There are plenty of people I think wow how did the hospital let you walk out with that child. Whether it be the druggie parents, the abusive parents, the never there parents etc. Unfortunately there is not one set way to judge who is and who isn't going to be a good parent, I wish there was cause we'd have less abortions, less adoptions and a lot more love for children around the world.
