Why are these two areas a debative topics (Religion and Politics)

I feel people are  opnionated individuals who want to get their points across. what do you feel  , why or why not? share your own opinions

They're in that area because people can strongly disagree about them. Other people aren't interested in flame wars, and want to stay out of it. I'm glad they have those topics separate.
