Do you open your door if you don't know the person standing outside?

I don't.  It's usually somebody going door-to-door begging for cash, or somebody doing a religious thing.

The only people that would come at my door besides family would be those guys that are giving out bibles or spreading the word of God or whatever. I usually never open the door even a little bit to anybody unless its like family or the pizza guy.

I am thankful that I live in a safe area.  I answer my door without fear.  My neighbors are so nosy they know who is knocking before  I do.  They also know more people than I do, so I sometimes ask them who it was.

If I'm alone in the house, I don't open the door unless I see the person is a utility worker from the electric company or gas company. Other than that, I'm not opening the door. I have a window that lets me see who's at the front door. If they show me ID proving they are in fact who they say they are then I open the door. Safety comes first at all times.

I had an experience with opening the door to the wrong person. Not a mistake I will repeat if at all possible.  Whenever anyone comes to visit me, I won't answer the door unless they are knocking on the door while calling me on the phone.  Call me paranoid if you wish, but as I get older, there are fewer people I trust, especially if I am home alone with my daughter.

I have taught my children to never answer the door for anyone they don't know,  and I have to set a good example so I do likewise.

well that would probably depend on what time of the day/night it was. day time i probably would. now if someone i don't know comes knocking on my door in the middle of the night then know i wouldn't. i'm cautious but i'm not a wimp. honestly i think sometimes woman get a bit to paranoid.

I always ask when someone knocks on the door.  My living room window is next to my front door so I can tell who is out there before I open my door.  It is not safe these days to open your door or let anyone in.  It is a shame that today there are so many dishonest poeple in this world.

I think there are perfectly good reasons to be paranoid nowadays.  I live in a po dunk town in Kentucky, and I opened my door and was forced to drive a drug addict around town to find his next fix.  I am grateful that my two year old daughter was not with me at home that evening.  I would rather be paranoid than kidnapped or raped.

No, I never open the door for someone I don't know . People are always trying to sell something in my neighborhood and there are just a lot of crazy people in this world
