Did you enjoy your childhood life?
« on: April 09, 2011, 04:26:59 pm »
Alot of people grew up in broken homes, missing parents etc. i can say my childhood wasnt all easy but i do have alot of good memorys. I had to grow up kind of fast i've been on my own since i was 16 and im glad that i ended up in the pathe i am in because of of kids who dont have parents by their side are out running the streets and often end up in bad situations. everyone cant say that they were a complete angel come on now we all were kids at one point and often can be hard headed. i know i wasnt any angel at all but i can say i knew better and i wanted to actually be someone to prove to myself and family i can do it with out them. with nothing but faith and prayer god has put me in the right path. so what was your childhood like?

Yea I did enjoy it, although there were some shady moments but for the most part it was fun, until I became of age.

Although is grown up world isnt always so pleasant, these are definetly the better years of my life. my childhood was hell, I know that other children had it worst off than me but when you are growing up like that you definelty feel like its the worst thing in the world and sometimes wonder if any can get any worst.

i had a very good childhood. they say we
romanticize the past, but it really was a magical
time. even though my parents were divorced by
the time i was 10, they remained very close...
and even got back together during my teens.

i was very lucky to have the kind of parents who
were open-minded and kids at heart, themselves
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I had a great childhood.  I am number 3 of 7.

I grew up on a farm.  The farms a few years back were small one family farms, not the big operations most are today.

We worked together as a family, whether it was picking up rocks in the fields so the rocks wouldn't damage the cultivator.  Or chopping thistles in the pasture.  Or pulling weeds out of the bean fields.  Or cleaning out the pig pens, Baling hay.............

In our free time, we played with the cats outside, climbed in the haymow, built forts, rode horse.......

I have great memories.

Life as a child was pretty traumatizing for me but I do have some great memories that I can hold on to. My parents were married for 16 years but there were a couple of separations in between. We moved a lot between Philly, and Jersey City. Changed schools a lot, had to make new friends all the time. It was such a normal routine that I even got used to it. I felt like I was a nomad. Then all of a sudden, they get a divorce when I was 16 years old. My mother was left with me, my brother, and my sister. Three kids to take care of on her own. At least I was almost an adult and then could find work on my own, but she still had to take care of my brother and sister who are younger than me. Either way, as an adult I turned out perfectly fine. I don't drink, don't smoke, don't do drugs. My mother's instruction was enough for me. Being in a broken home is not so bad if you have at least one great parent that can bring you up correctly. Now, for those who have had abusive parents or parents with drug addictions, there's no reason to continue the same pattern. You can think for yourself and become better than your parent. It is possible. There's no law in the world that says you have to be just like your parents. Don't use "growing up in a broken home as an excuse for your actions." If I was in law enforcement, that wouldn't fly with me. Everyone is to be held accountable for their own actions.

I feel so bad for all of you without a happy childhood. Mine was great. My parents did not have alot of money, but seemed to know how to budget so we never went without. We never moved and they are still married to this day. I always knew they loved me and my school/sports/band events were always important and they attended. Birthdays were always special and included cake and at least 1 gift, usually more. So yes, I enjoyed very much my childhood.

Over all I had a good childhood.  My parents first separated when I was six for a year then got back together then finally divorced when I was 11.  I knew my parents loved me.  We traveled to different places during summer vacations.  I wasn't abused.  I had what I needed.  My parents were great parents to me.

I had a really good childhood, back in the day when we went outside to play tag, or throw the football around, being a girl having two brothers was always fun, following them over cliffs up and down hills, through creeks, them were the days.

My childhood was great, I was very lucky and fortunate. I miss being a kid, life gets so much more complicated when you get older. Like most kids, my biggest worry was how long my mom would let me play with my friends outside before I had to come in for the night. Now there are bills to pay, jobs to go to, and so many other things to worry about.

I did for the most part.  Teen years weren't that great.  Had a very strict father.
Have a wonderful day!

It was good growing up. Like a lot of people here said, we didn't have every new toy or designer jeans, but we got by with what we had. Now that I'm older, I can appreciate how hard it must have been for my parents to say no to things my sibling and I wanted. For the younger people, in their twenties, I say, "Hold on, because your twenties are really confusing time. Once you get close to your forties, things are clearer and you have more happiness in your life (kinda like childhood!)."  :)
