Do you believe in God?
« on: March 26, 2011, 02:39:46 pm »
If you do, have you developed a relationship with Him? Do you believe you are saved? If you don't, do you know what happens to you when you haven't accepted God?

I don't know what I believe. Growing up my parents always took me to church and didn't really think anything of it until now. How are we to know there's a god. With so many religions and so many different beliefs how do we know which is right? How do you believe in something when there are so many different versions? Obviously somebodies gotta be wrong.

If you are asking the simple question of belief in God then that takes religion out of it. I believe that if I look at the pictures on the internet from the Hubble telescope I must believe there is a God. There must be a higher power that put all this together. :notworthy:

Its called having faith in the unseen and having a personal relationship with God and if you think back to when you were going to church with parents what were you hearing and learning?  You know you just have to make a decison on weither you are going to believe in God or believe in something else.  For me I belive in God with all my heart and soul and I do have a personal relationship with him.  I have tried not being close to God and everything seemed to go wrong all the time now that I am closer to him and seeking him all the time I have a blessed life.  Blessing come in many ways.  I hope you find what your looking for and that you do make that decison.  I would go sit with your parents if possible and talk to them or go to the church you grew up in and talk to someone there.  Have a good day.

Let me first state that I intend no offense by my response here - I am simply responding to your questions honestly and openly.

Yes, I believe in God.  No, I haven't developed a relationship with "Him"; I have developed a relationship with God, because to call God male or female is to limit God.  I don't believe I have any right to say I am "saved" as that is presumptuous and, quite honestly, not what my faith is all about.  I don't really care what happens after I die; I am here, and I am now, and God is with me here and now.  I do say that I have eternal salvation because God's grace and salvation have touched me here and now.

Lastly, have you died and come back from the dead?  I'm guessing not; I don't know anyone alive and walking the earth as a human being today who has.  If you haven't, then you cannot say you know what happens to you after death, whether or not you have "accepted God."  Life is more than accepting God, and living a faithful life is not about accepting God but allowing God to change and shape you from the person you are into a person who lives an abundant life.

We believe in the wind - and we can't see it...

We say there is a wind because we can feel it.

I was taken to church every sunday from the time I was born. I never asked about him, or to be close to him. I never prayed. I just stood in the distance growing up and watched others relate to the religion.

When I was six - going to bed one night - I sat on my knees at the side of my bed in silence..had no clue why I was doing it - It just felt right. As the seconds past my thoughts started moving. Telling me that everything is going to be alright. That things are going to change and I can pray anytime. Bascially I felt as if god introduced himself to me. In the next three to four years I was abused by friends of the family. Today - I have no nightmares - dreams or feelings about all that stuff that happened. (because god was with me)

He isn't something to believe in and/or should or shouldn't believe in. He is something you just have to know.

Listen and feel. He talks to you with everything that is around you. Radio/Sound/Friends/sometimes through your own kids. He is real. Its just finding how he is real with you...

Then you will believe in him like you do the wind...you just know he is there..

:female: Well I have three beatiful children and I definetly believe in gOD. I wonder though when people are faced with trials and test -if they dont believe in God- Do they just sit around wishing their wife or child to be okay when the Dr. says they have cancer? I know that I lean on God in these times. He is my comfort- I know I can trust in him and that when I pray he hears me. I have had incidents in my life that proved there is a GOD. I would like to hear more about this topic and what others think? Are there more people who do not believe in God? Gees that would be scary!

I would say there is god. Even if we can't prove it through science, but there are a lot of things that happen that science just can't explain. For an example I was watching the history channel one time and it was about a general's house from the civilwar. I forget the Gen name but it was like one night a father and daughter was walking  around and they pass the house witch is now a store and they saw the deid gen laying on the couch and a door to a room. When they went back the room was blocked and they told the store owner what they saw and there was a room behind the cuten. We all can say wheather or not that god excist but if you look at things that can't be explain from science then there is you proof off God
