I think honestly if you don't do a survey, then you shouldn't get paid, HOWEVER... there are a few "survey sites" out there that I will have nothing do to with because I think they are possibly scamming people. One example of this is the surveyhead site. I was a member of them for a while, and I must have done like over 50+ surveys, or I should say TRIED to do. And I NEVER qualified, not once for a single one. I tried the cheapest paying ones, the shortest, longest, etc... I tried different ones, and I was never approved. BUT the main thing that really got me about these, was like if it said the whole survey would only take 30 mins, I found a LOT of times it would boot me out saying I don't qualify or etc... after like 20+ mins. And this was not like I was JUST answering a few qualifying questions, I was taking the actual survey. I am not dumb either, I mean I understand the basics about taking a survey, be honest, remember what you answered before, and etc...
Another site & surveys I stay away from is the Isops or however you spell their name. I found out that they use something in the form of malware or etc... and put it on your computer. I used to take them no problem, then one day my comp started acting weird and the only thing I was doing at the time was their survey. Anyway I did a few scans, and 2 different ones found stuff from them on my comp. So I had my programs block what ever it was, and prevent it from being slipped into my comp again. Ever since I did this, they will no longer approve me to do their surveys. I get a stupid message every single time saying I don't qualify, and it is just after I enter the first things like age, location or something. I think this is BS, I am trying to do a survey, not allow them to put stuff on my comp.
Ok back to the main question... I don't think you should be paid when you do not complete a survey, BUT if you DO complete like a certain %, and they boot you out of it, then YES they should compensate you some how. I have been booted out saying "unfortunately you do not... blah blah blah" and the thing about it is some of those times I was like 80% or more through the survey, and this is not a guess, it is a fact, based on those little bars they have showing you your progress.
