Spending money
« on: March 08, 2011, 04:55:09 pm »
If you were given 1 million dollars what would you spend it on and why? I would first pay all of my bills off. Then invest in something solid so that my money would increase and then I think I would travel around the world. I would also buy some land and build a house jst the way I want it.

Okay, here's an interesting response to your question. How about Tithing the whole 1 million dollars? If you were to believe that you cannot OUTGIVE GOD, this is the most powerful investment you could ever make! Now, my response here MAY lead to other people starting to share their stories of how God has blessed them when they gave their 10% to God, so don't be surprised. But I would wonder how giving 100% would improve your blessings?

If you think giving up 1,000,000 buckaroos would be difficult, imagine a real life example. Do you recall who Ken Jennings is? That's right, he won over 2,000,000 on Jeopardy. And yes, he gave away over 200,000 bucks to his church. Keeping in mind Uncle Sam kept his portion too, Mr Jennings likely ended up with just 1,000,000. So, he lost a million dollars. I wonder how his life has been enriched as a result?

I have already paid my tithes on the house that God gave to my mother and I and now I am waiting on the money from the sale of the house. God does bless if you tithe on what He provides.

I think I would have to invest in people. So many homeless who have been kicked to the curve and need help. we are happiest when we invest in others. our time & our money and there is a great return.

I must be very confused or ignorant. What the heck are you talking about here? You state "God GAVE your mother and you a house"? "You paid tithes ON that house"? Now you are selling it, for a profit, and say it is because you paid 'tithes' on what he 'provided'? Since when are payments on outstanding loans called 'tithing'? Since when does god, or anyone, GIVE people houses, cars, clothes, or anything else? Gee, I stupidly went to a bank and obtained a mortgage for every house I have ever owned - kicking myself for not knowing about the "Great Home Giveaway Program".

I'm sorry, but when I read whacked out (in my opinion) statements like this, it just reinforces how distorted religion can make some view how life works. I guess I live in reality.....I worked for what I have and don't give credit to anyone but myself for being able to own what I have. I guess all the people who are unable to feed, clothe, house, provide for themselves and their children are just stuck because they don't have money to tithe, eh? Wow. :(

I will pay of my bills and donate to my church 10% of it.  The rest I would distributive to my family to have some money of their on.  And keep the rest for myself to see what ever come to life and spend it.

Rerply to Jordandog we have worked for what we have but when God provides a house that you can buy for a fraction of the cost and it was not a repo then I do consider it a gift from God. We are selling it because it is to big of a house for just two of us.

It is called faith and I have plenty in a generous God. I not saying that it is a give wawy program but the Bible does tell us that God will return things that were taken from us seven fold. Read the book of Job.

Cut for the poor and the Gospel, cut for family and friends, cut for bills, invest in a few things.
Get on with life.
