What will working people do when Gas reaches $5.00 per gallon?

This is the worst time possible for gas to be on the rise. Unemployment is app at 10%. When they do find work a lot of times it is at minimal wages. What are people going to do when it reaches $5.00 a gallon? I believe it will casue more crime and people really will be hurting esp the children. Or will they use this as a political move in 2012? What do you think?

Either pay more for gas or walk, bike, carpool or take the bus/train to work.

I have no choice but to pay because I still have to go to work.  I can take the train then the bus to get to work but I still have to drive to get to the train which takes about 30 minutes.  Bus fare will definitely go up.

I paid $3.45.9 for regular unleaded at a truck stop today.  Some of the other stations were $3.55.9.  Guess I'll be staying home and talking to my friends more by phone and email.

Do the best they can.  Either walk, jog or form a group to ride together once a week.

an alternative fuel so i don't have to do it myself

I've already taken to walking to places rather than driving to them, but sometimes it's just not possible to do. I just try to drive as little as possible, or if I'm meeting somebody, I try to find a place in the middle of our locations so that one of us doesn't use more gas than is necessary.

My job requires me to travel out of town and all my expenses are covered for the trip. I think I'll try to travel more in business.

I believe people will do what they did when it reached a dollar, two dollars, three dollars.  Just live with it.  If we cant change it, we just have to deal with it and believe that just like God provided for us to pay for the cost now, He will provide in the future.

I will certainly be spending more time at home. And probably working FusionCash more from home too.... At work they are trying out CAE's working from home, I would do it in a heartbeat if they offered it to me!

I live in Atlanta where allot of people opt for the bus/train. My husband's company even pays for his train/bus pass.
