Consumers will have to become aware of unnecessary traveling.  There are options like car pooling, using public transportation, riding a bicycle or a motorcycle in warmer climates.  When there's a will, there's a way!

And What about us retired people on fixed income? I guess we'll all become recluses and rely on Fusion Cash for pin money and contact with others! :BangHead:

OMG don't say that!  I would DIE - I am going on maternity leave in a few weeks - I have $600 saved up with $1,000 worth of monthly bills - I am screwed as it is.  I guess I just can't drive anywhere...or eat!

Just pull out your bicycles and mopads. Like the old days.  I guess. 5.00 is alt for gas and a gas guggler dont help.

The best thing is to "bike" it.  Make sure you make each trip count for multiple things.  It's always hard for working people to make ends meet with gas so high. Especially those who commute extra miles to work. A lot of people in my area must commute at least 100 miles to larger cites to work.

I'm in the mountains and retired, so my working days are over in that respect.  However, the price of gas affects everyone.  There will be fewer trips taken to the valley to go to Costco and stuff for shopping for me.

The same thing that they have always done...... Deal with it! LOL

The people that are really worried about it will turn in their gas guzzlers for something that will be cheaper to drive. Everyone else may try to save gas by not driving as many places as they usually do (for example, making sure that they can buy all of their groceries at one store instead of stopping at 2 or 3). Every time gas goes up people complain but not many are really prepared to do anything about it. Life goes on and the gas companies just keep getting richer..... :dontknow:

This is why we needed "all of the above" alternatives started years ago!!!The problem with alternatives is that it will cost much more when and if it arrives than Gas is now. I believe in the "Drill baby Drill" concept and then work on alternatives. The problem is if we don't we will be going through this Cost increase of gas every so often. Remember when it went up to over $4 a gallon in 2008, we didn't learn then either!!

I am unhappy about the rise in gas prices and very worried about them getting toward the 5 dollar mark.

Its about 3.56 up here in Maine and it's rising by the day or so. I am not working right now and luckily my husband can ride to work with a coworker and its only 12 miles both ways. The boys can take the bus to school and we live in town so if we need to make a trip to the store its only a mile. It's a good thing cause with only one income it is hard as it is. But, my boys are constantly going to drs appts and all the places they need to go are 30 miles in either direction but they have to go so we will just tighten our belts in other places I guess.
