Art Vs. Science
« on: February 25, 2011, 01:40:33 pm »
If you could choose to be a genius in one of these fields, Art or Science( not combined) and be a total dummy in the other, which would you choose? And please state why.

And everyone can agree that both fields are extremely important, but which one do you think is most useful to the world?

Science, no contest.  Science brings with it advancements to society.  Art may enrich our lives, but there is no way to be a total dummy in art:  beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  No matter what someone makes, someone somewhere is going to end up liking it.  After all, using human excrement (or other body fluids really) as media ends up being worth a considerable sum of money.  I find contemporary art in particular to be rather questionable, but that's my personal art preference.

I don't think it's possible to separate them.

The art of science and the science of art.

I would definitely have to go with science. I am a very left-brained type of person, and would need the logic and structure behind science. Look at all of the contributions science has had to the world thus far. I would love to be the genius that helped contribute to making the world so much better.

art is a science. It takes discipline to do art. You have to master your feeling and your vision and place it canvas.... that science

As with many other matters in life, if you are creating art solely for the approval of others then you are missing out on the true essence of self expression and your creativity will suffer greatly. Just be your self and your beauty will show thru, ta hell with what others think you should be or what you should create!!!

Well I love to feel at peace so I would have to say I'd go for ART. Science is interesting but it racks my nerves sometimes.
