I've never done a survey that asked for credit card number.  I include date of birth.  It's not a secret any more. You can find a lot of info about anyone online if you search enough.  I'd be more leery if a survey asked me to give my SSN which is also something that can be found easily if someone really wanted to.

True though I think they can verify your ssn quickly if you give your date of birth.

As long as it is verified I think giving your credit card number online is okay. We sometimes purchase facebook credits for farmville...

even if you didnt put it on the internet, identity theft is still possible. Your credit card company has a preventive system for this. how "they" get your information also depends if you use the card alot in different places, this lets them know you have money.

In my opinion it is not safe. Someone is always watching, and nothing is entirely secure. I have had banks send me letters that their system was compromised, and issue me a new card. If they cant keep things secure how can the basic security we use online for purchases be safe? But that is just my opinion. Maybe i am paranoid a bit as well  :P

yes there are some sites that are safe,  but there are far greater ones that can harm you,   stick with only trusted sites that you personaly know someone has used

I've done some offers like that, but only with very well known companies like Doubleday Book Club and Blockbuster.

I would only put my cc on trusted sites such as amazon, just things you are familiar with.

I hope I go to trusted sites and I occasionally use a credit card online and haven't been burned yet...

many credit card companies provide a small program for your computer that will create random credit card number linkd to your account and you can specify how much money and how long the card is valid. shopsafe from bank of america or virtual account are pretty good.
