That kinda sucks if it's true.  I know that United States residents have to pay federal income taxes after earning $400/year, but is there a law in Canada limiting online income?

As mentioned, it probably has to do with a Canadian tax law.  If I were to guess (and this is purely a guess), if FusionCash were to allow Canadian members to earn more than $600, they'd have a bunch of paperwork they'd have to do with the Canadian government for tax reasons.  By keeping it under $600, it allows Canadian users to make some extra money and use the site, yet allows FusionCash to keep the paperwork and expenses at a minimum for themselves.

Maybe the Admin will chime in at some point with a full explanation for you. :)

Really?  I thought it was under $600/ a year for americans... Can anyone tell me whether it is actually $400 or $600 a year before paying taxes please. ???

It's earning at least $600 or more on one website and then you have to report your earnings. I am sure. I just asked an accountant the other day.

I don't think there is a rule about Canadian earnings, but you might be talking about the fact that if you earn over $600 you have to report it on your income taxes. That's true for the US, I really have no idea how taxes work in Canada so I couldn't tell you about them.

If that's your accountant: fire them.  They need to read up.

Doing these sites fall under being self-employed; that's why FC is supposed to send a form to you once you've earned $400 in a single year.

"You are self-employed if you operate a trade, business or profession, either by yourself or as a partner. You report your earnings for Social Security when you file your federal income tax return. If your net earnings are $400 or more in a year, you must report your earnings on Schedule SE in addition to the other tax forms you must file."

I was thinking the same thing. I thought it was a US only site.

FC opened up to Canada in October.  The site is a bit different for them: no PTC, no daily email, and a different selection of offers.  Also, there is the $600/year cap on redeemed earnings for Canadian members.  As mentioned, it's to minimize the tax related paperwork on our end.
