a language
« on: February 02, 2011, 09:05:39 am »
Other than English, I am not fluent in any other language.  I went to college with a girl that was fluent in 7 different languages.  At one time I thought I would like to learn a different language, but, just never got around to it.  Do speak more than one language?

I speak only English, but wish I had the aptitude to speak another language.  I took French in high school, but could never get the hang of it.

I'm only fluent in English but I know some Spanish and Mandarin.  I really want to be fluent in all three but I get really lazy and don't study.

I'm fluent in 5 languages. It's an amazing tool to have, and I'm grateful for my parents exposing me to it at such a young age.

English, of course. I used to be much better at Spanish and German than I am now. I can still recall some of it, but mostly I don't use it. I've been kinda relearning them both by reading in the languages. I have also been learning a little bit of Greek and some Dutch in the same manner, also Catalan. Every now and again I go read Finnish, and rarely Norwegian. By looking up translations on words I don't know, it helps me. Being able to read it and speak it are two totally different things though. When I get the opportunity I plan on relearning German and Spanish. Then I want to learn all the languages I mentioned above along with Portuguese (Brazilian) and possibly Italian.
