athlete suspensions

SO...we see this in the news often-athletes suspended for various reasons....or fined, depending on the circumstance...what are
people's thoughts? Are they generally too soft/too cheap with regards to punishment? Or does the fact that a fine/punishment hurts
an athlete's reputation help compensate for this difference?
