What age do you think is good for cellphone??

Well i think that if they can pay for the bill of the cell let them have one as long as it not used in a car or in class at school . Cells are nice to have in Emergency my son 9 and he carries one to let us know where he at and it is for times like when he outside at a friends house or when he not in school only he isnt allowed to give out his number to anyone unless approved by us

i agree with most of this advice, depends on maturity and resposibility.  But I do know that there are phones that you can restrict most activities.

In my opinion it's great that your son has a phone at that age. i think by waiting untill your child is old enough to drive you're giving them a nice new toy to distract them behind the wheel. maybe by the time he's that age he'll feel the way most of us in our twenties do; a text can wait.

depends, if they walk to school then as soon as possible, but maybe have the teacher hold onto it while they are in class. but if they dont, then as soon as the parent feels they are ready. i got my first phone at 12 because my mom wasnt that great of a mother, so my dad bought me one. i respected that i had one and didnt mess around.

12years old with a limit to who they and what they can talk to. I have seen kindergartners with a phone. My, my.

Great question. I think once a kid hits high school then they need s cell phone. Bc the parents should know where your kid is at all times during these ages

We got one for my son when he was getting ready to go into middle school.  However, he is quite often grounded from it.

I like the idea of kids of about 14-16 to get cell phones but with limitations, They should have limited time and texts.  I feel having a GPS tracker on the phone is a great safety feature for our kids.

I guess no one understands the radiation going into the ear or brain and if a person still developing uses this who knows what can go wrong. Of course tell me its not so but just spend some time and do the math. Use the search engine on cell phones and what it does to the brain. You can fry and egg in between 2 cell phones. I used my cell phone yesterday close to my stereo and that noise you get when the radar is being picked up was pretty loud.

Just be kind to your growing childs mind.

as others have said, age isn't so important as dependability and trustworthyness.  my daughter and son-in-law got an extra one for their oldest to use only when she was away from home just in case she needed to call home.  they gave it to her to keep when she turned 13 but with some restrictions.  my daughter monitors very closely and tells her kids up front that she will.  they'll repeat the process as needed with each of their other 2.  hope that helps.

i say after graduating college bc texting distracts people too much i know it distracts me in school all the time

When they are old enough to help pay for the bill with allowance money. Or if you dont have a land line so you have some way to reach them. Im thinking like 14 or 15 for my son. And only if they are resposible.
