Why does my fiance do this?
« on: January 09, 2011, 08:04:57 am »
Sometimes he is super hyper, and I can't help it if I'm not hyper.  If I'm not hyper I can't just magically pump myself with HYPERNESS.  I'm typically a calm, relaxed person.  Then he'll start saying how we never talk.  We've almost been together for 5 years, so if I already told him everything that happened at work or new news I have nothing left to say.  I can't just pull a topic out of my butt.  It hurts my feelings and makes me uncomfortable when he says we never talk because I know it's not true and I know communication is key in a relationship so it scares me when he thinks we lack in the communication area.

If you've been with him for 5 years and this is happening then there's something wrong. If he wants to talk tell him to initiate the conversation on the topic that he wants to talk about. It's only fair. Go out together and do something that you enjoy that way you'll have something to talk to him about later.

I think you've just gotten to that point in your relationship where you can have "companionable silences." It's not like at the beginning when you ran out of things to say and it was "awkward silence." You two can just be together and not have to be putting on a show for each other. I'm not a big talker either. I'm happy just for my bf and I to be in the same room, watching movies and shows we both enjoy. I was never one of those girls who asks "what are you thinking?" GAG!

If he thinks there needs to be more talking, then he should bring up topics to talk about. It seems to me it is just at that point where you talk about your day and then just be together. There is nothing better, in my opinion, than just being content with being together without forcing things. Maybe there is something else weighing on his mind that you should ask about. Best of luck!

Explain how you feel to him, don't let it fester up inside of you.

If it's been five years then you really need to sit and think if this is the guy for you.  Just my opinion, you look young and maybe he is the one or your just not sure.  My opinion if you are in your early twenties explore and later than that see if he is really serious.  Good luck in all your relationships. :-)

I have recently discovered that my husband loves for me to read to him. Who knew? Maybe if you read to your fiance it will fill the gap he thinks is there from non communication. It is worth a shot.
