none of the above. the only jewelry i wear is my wedding ring and i think flowers are a waste of money because they just die anyways. as for candy, i make my own fairly often and when i don't, well, my husband can't seem to go to the store without bringing something sweet home so there's always candy in my house. the things i prefer to get for valentine's (and birthdays, anniversaries, christmas) are things that are sentimental or practical. i like that we can use these days as an excuse to leave the kids with my mom and go out to eat together, or go to a movie. it doesn't even have to be a fancy restaurant, just somewhere that we both like the food and can sit and talk without being interrupted a hundred times by our 10 yr old talking about video games or our 2 year old refusing to eat anything but french fries. the other kinds of gifts i like to get are things that i will use all the time. last year for valentines my husband bought be a shark steam mop, and for christmas he bought me new baking supplies (pans, piping decorators, etc.) it may not be "romantic" but at least he's getting his money's worth because its not flowers that are dead in week, candy that is eaten in less than that, or jewelry that will just sit in my vanity collecting dust

they really do liven up the room a bit and my fiance

last v-day, we made brownies together, popped
some popcorn, and rented a movie. i blew up some
balloons and had them on lying on the floor when
he got home, too. it was really cute!

I'm not really into any of that.I don't like flowers,can't have candy because of my diet.I don't really see the need to celebrate it.To me it's just another day.Also to me it's more for kids.I do like getting my granddaughters stuff for valentines.

Honestly I never expect any of the above but it sure is nice to get. When my boyfriend first bought me flowers for no special reason I cried because I had never gotten flowers before. I was 22 years old and none of my previous boyfriends were the giving type. I wouldn't like to get jewelry because it is expensive and I know I would hardly ever wear it.
