I miss my family, how often you meet your family
« on: January 06, 2011, 05:09:57 pm »
my family are far from me, they are on the other side of the earth. I miss them, I hope I can stay with them for one month every year, but it looks it is not possible, not enough money to afford the flight ticket. sign, they need me and miss me too.  Every year is not avaiable, how about every 2 years. I wish I can meet and stay with them for some time every 2 years.
How about you?

Everybody is so busy these days, we rarely see each other. We usually get together for birthdays, holidays and any time we can in between.

i am very fortunate that i live about 8 miles (just across the lake) from my mom, sister and brother. my dad live about 45 minutes away right now (in a therapy home for his back issues) but he'll be back at home (my mom's) within the next 6 months i hope. some of my aunts and uncles and lots of cousins, and my husband's parents live just an hour or so away so we can see them at least twice a month. the rest of my family lives in either oregon or new mexico  and i live in southern california so i only see them once or twice a year but am lcuky enough that i can keep in touch with them by email and facebook

Most of my family is just the next state over but I haven't seen them since 2004. It's not that we don't get along, we're just very different people. But I really should try and see them soon, my grandpa hasn't been doing well.

I miss my family too. They are about 2hrs away from me. Its just that I cant travel  like I desire because of money and also because we have 1 operable vehicle right. I am greatful that they came to visit for Christmas 2010.

I see my parents every week.... my son I try to see him about once or twice a month.  My parents are very old but still able to live in their own home and take care of themselves but I try to look in on them at least once a week.  My brother lives with my parents but .... not a lot of help ;( .  I love my brother but he could do a little more if you know what i mean.  My sister lives about 14 hours away but I see her about twice a year. My inlaws I see every weekend.  I am blessed

My family lives in two diferent directions, about 45 minutes away.  We get together quite often.  We go on vacations together - daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren.  We all went to Disney in March and then a lake cabin for two weeks every July.  We are very lucky that we all get along.

I still live within 40 minutes of my mom, dad, brother and living grandparents. I see my dad and grandparents at holidays mainly. I see my brother weekly since I help him out with school and other activities. I see my mom every couple of weeks. My dad and grandparents live on the same property. I wish I saw my grandparents more but my dad is very hypercritical of me so I don't make the effort to see him more than at holidays.

I try to visit with my family every couple of weeks. Sometimes we are not able to get together that often though. When I refer to family; I am talking about my 3 sons. I lost my Dad 5 years ago to cancer and my Mother passed away this past March due to cancer also. Then within the past 3 months thereafter I lost my 3 uncles on my mothers' side also due to cancer. That has just about wiped out my entire family except for my boys. So, I can understand what many of you mean by missing your families. I make a point to schedule extra time out just to be with my boys. I don't have the problems that many of you have about trying to get enough money for plane tickets and for that I am grateful. My boys live about 2 hours from me but sometimes I do have to worry about getting enough $ up for gas to get there and back. You know, with the prices of gas now a days! I pray that all of you get the opportunity to be with your families in the near future! Family means everything to me. I just don't know if I could handle not being able to be with my family. :peace:

My family usually gets together a few times a year (holidays, sometimes in the summer for reunions or other events like weddings).  Except for one sister who I've seen once in 5 years, because she lives in another state at the opposite end of the country - just can't afford the tickets to fly that often.

We're close as a family, but not physically close.  Even if we don't physically visit - we do keep in touch with emails and occasional phone calls.  When we do get together in person, after a couple minutes greetings and catching up on life, it's almost as if no time had passed.  I love that about my family - we could be separated for years, but after minutes we're right back to our old routines like no time had passed at all.
