I write poetry to.  It was always my dream to turn them into songs until I realized that I have absolutely no musical talent!!!!!!

All of my poetry is based off of past childhood experiences and so I am kinda sensitive when it comes to other people reading it.  Plus I always worry that there is someone who is going to try to steal my work.  I know that I could get it copyrighted but that goes back to my fear of having people respond negatively to my style.

If anyone is interested, there are wonderful free self-publishing sites out there for anyone who wants to see their work in print. Personally I have found wordclay.com, lulu.com, and blurb.com.

Wordclay.com has a fairly simplistic format, but if you want any sort of custom cover designs or colored photos inside your book, you have to pay.
Lulu.com allows custom covers and colored photos, but the format is a bit harder to get used to, plus most of the time the books end up pretty expensive!

I would recommend blurb.com. You have to download their software to your computer, but it's easy to use, and when you make a book with just text, it ends up being fairly inexpensive on their site, so it's easy to buy a copy for yourself or convince your friends to buy a copy.
Hope that helps encourage any blossoming poets to keep writing & maybe put their work into print. :)

I entered a poem into poetry.com when I was younger.  It was my mother who passed away.  It seems poetry.com is now lulu.poetry and it is very different than before.  But I was still able to find my link.

I wrote poem before, when I was in school, but now, I do not have time, only sometimes, even some words come to my mind, If I didn't write it at that time, then I will forget.

I entered several poems with that site.  I didn't realize it had changed names.  Through them, I also had a few published in a couple of "coffee table" size poem books.  My real goal is to complete my own book (eventually) and have it published.

Thank you for the suggestions!  I am ever so slowly trying to finish my own book of poems and it helps to know where to look.

inkfire, that might be something I actually want to look into.  I am assuming these sites would help you to get your work copyrighted??? Let me know and I might go check it out......  :star:

I use to write poems when I was young, but life sucked all of that creative joyfulness out of me. I'm joking...but yeah, I don't know what happened, I use to write stories too! I guess I'm too busy with Twitter and whatnot.  :-[
