I had all 3 of mine naturally including my 9 lb boy.  It's really up to you.  If you have good support and quick labor it's not so bad.  Some people know that they can't tolerate pain.  Best of luck either way.

I think it all depends on your tolerance for pain.

I agree. I had been throwing up Mon-Wed, thought it was a bug so I was on a Gatorade diet per my midwives. Wed night I had a 2 minute contraction, the midwife thought it was because I was dehydrated as 2 mins is crazy, especially since nothing happened for 2 hours and 45 min after. After that the contracts started as they should and I was still sick so I decided to go to the ER for an IV, get there and I was already at a 5! So in that respect my pain tolerance was amazing. They broke my water and that was when it got bad or maybe it got bad because I knew how close it was either way I still had time for an epidural (LOVED IT!) and had my son about 2 hours later. I didn't have any issues but that doesn't mean you can't.

I believe a natural birth is the healthiest for both parties, but sometimes the mother has a difficult time and needs a painkiller.

I don't understand why any woman would want to opt for a "natural" birth.  Just what exactly are you proving by taking the much more painful and uncomfortable route??  Chicks don't do this for other things, like walking 20 miles instead of driving because it's more natural.  lol  Take advantage of modern medical science!  It's there for a reason!

It completely depends on you and your pain tolerance. I was dialated to 4 centimeters and all I felt was some PMS cramps in my back but I ended up having a C-section because of complications but everything turned out Wonderfully and we now have a 15 month old boy. Used to, doctors would adivse against epidural because it was not as healthy for the child. However, these days it doesn't make a difference for the child's health so it's up to you.

I had an epidural. The pain hit me all at once and I had a panic attack. I'll never get another one because I now have bulging In my spine after getting It.

Epidural all the way!  I believe it is up to the person.  I had an epidural and had to have a c-section and I had no pain yay

Everyone is different.  You have to do what is best for you.  I had 3 kids naturally, I could not see myself using epidural.   When I had very bad back problems, I had to get several epidurals for my lower back.  Never say never about what you can not do.   I wish you well no matter what you do.

Up you depending on pain tortance.  For my wife she tried but after 2 hours of labor she could not take the pain any longer and got one.

 Congradulations on the coming of your little one! You know that is sort of a hard question to answer. It really depends on the person. I had all natural child birth with my 3 boys but I didn't haveany complications. Some women have issues with blood pressure and etc. and are not able to go through natural child birth. But if you can it will be better on your recovery time as well as on the health of your baby. But of course; you really need to discuss this with your Doctor. I hate staying in hospitals; by having mine naturally it cut my hospital stay way down. I stayed only overnight as compared to a 2 or 3 day stay. Talk to your Doctorabout it before you decide. He or She may even give you an option of trying to deliver naturally unless there poses a unforseen problem. It won't hurt to ask! Good Luck and God Bless!!!

It all depends on how much you're willing to take.  I have two girls, one 12, one 2.  I gave birth naturally to both of them, no drugs at all.  My first birth was actually quite simple but the second time around it ws much more difficult.  But if you're willing to deal with the pain then go natural.  If not, get the epidural.

Congratulations! I don't know which one is better in fact, but I believe giving birth in the way mother nature works is better than anything else.

I am going to be having a baby here in a month or so.  I have been toying around with doing a natural birth and I was just wondering what other people's opinions are on the matter.  Do you think it is better to have an epidural or to tought it out and do it natural?

It depends on each mother and each delivery.  Talk it over with your doctor.  If you have done any prenatal birthing classes, you may already know some of the relaxation and breathing tips that can help you when you are in labor.

If you get into the labor and find you need some help from a drug, then ask for it.

For me, I had easy deliveries for all 4 kids.  No drugs.

I just barely started a birthing class through my church last night.  It is a 7 week course and I am very excited about it.  She went over a couple breathing exercises, and I tell ya what the one that works for me is amazing.  I was in so much pain last night after we got home and I started doing the breathing exercise and it made all the pain go away.  It was awesome!!! It put me to sleep pretty quick too.    My doctor will support either natural birth or the epidural, so that's pretty cool.  I really do appreciate everyone's opinions.  It is good to hear what other people think.  The best advice naturally comes from women who have been there done that.  If any of you are interested, I would be more then happy to let you know how it goes when my little girl is born.   ;D

I got a epidural with both my kids.with my second I thought about doing natural birth but my son weighed more than my daughter. On top of that I was in labor longer. My water broke but my contractions were stretched far apart .I wasn't dilating fast enough so I knew I would be in labor a long time .So yes i definitely took the epidural.
