Does the truth come out when a person is drunk?
« on: December 31, 2010, 03:15:24 pm »
I am not sure if this is true.  :-
My friend got really buzzed yesterday.Him and his girl was arguing and he told his girlfriend he wants to see other people. The next day when he sobered up he swore he didn't mean it. She was telling him that that was exactly what he wanted because the truth comes out when you drink.Do you believe that this is true?

yes! when i was younger, i was very skeptical of
drinking. i had somewhat protective parents and wasn't
exposed to alcohol other than special occasions, so i
always thought that people used being drunk as
an excuse for ANYTHING they did.

but i've learned that if you're drunk enough, you will say
and do things that you won't even remember. some of the
things i've heard come out of peoples' mouths, jeez. (things
i wouldn't have believed, if i hadn't heard it myself!)

however, as far as it being "the truth," nah! drunk jibberish.

[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

Its possible.  But it can also go alot of the other ways too.  A person may not really understand or know what they are saying.  People drink and black out and things happen and they have no recollection of it.

Hard to say. Maybe he said that because they were arguing or it could be something he has yet to admit to himself.

In my experience, yes the truth has come out, because when you're drinking you let your wall you have built up and then that's usually when the truth comes out if you've been hiding something like cheating, etc. Now if you're totally out of control, then that's another issue.

Sometimes...
I think it kind of depends on the level and drunkness too.
I think people don't hold back near as much when they are drunk, do things they never would do if they were in a sober state...
Sometimes it's something they have been wanting to do but didn't have the courage, other times not. Either way, your actions are yours to take responsibility for

Not everything, I think only those things the person consider/concern, the truth will come out after drunk, However, it is hard to say. May most are this condition. Cos in my country, they said the same thing with our language:truth comes out after drunk.

I have always heard that it does!  I know that people do alot of crazy things when they are drunk that they would normally never do when they are sober!

I don't know if it is true for everyone. I know a few people that will really speak their mind when they are drunk, as well as do things they wouldn't normally do. I know that when I am drunk I am brutally honest and tend to run my mouth and tell people stuff I would not normally say. My husband says that I confess to a lot of things when I drink. He also says I say a lot of weird stuff. Needless to say I haven't been drunk in over a year. LOL

Drunken words are sober thoughts.

It depends on the level of drunkeness obviously, but in general I find this to be true.

I whole heartedly believe that the truth comes out when a person is drunk. I have some nicest people in world but when their they become very violent to the point its dangerous to be around.

I think the truth does come out if someone is drunk. There are things that people say that they wouldn't normally tell anyone if they were sober. For example a cheating spouse would admit they're cheating when they're drunk.
