You can also get parasites from cooked meat that is not handled properly after the cooking.  When talking about beef there is less of a chance if is good quility.  While something else like chicken or pork they are more likely to have problems if not cooked properly.  When a person gets a medium or high steak it has been cook to a standard to kill off most of the thing that might make you sick.  I am one with a steak if it is well done it is too much like jerkie and if I want jerkie that is what I will buy.

I prefer only White meat. We can get it in any Asian restaurants. It should be well cooked. Meat even has some type of bacteria so prefer only well cooked. We don't to get bacteria but only proteins in the meat.

People can get parasites from eating undercooked meat.

I have a friend that eats raw hamburger, her mom did too, never got them sick  i tried it didnt like it I like my meat rare tho, if your cooking it yourself and your use to the rareness you dont really get sick I work medium to well done for my son tho -  cuz hes still a baby. as long as your in a respectable clean resturant your fine

and you can get parasites from veggies too

Medium well. My boyfriend and his family have been trying to get me to try it a little more rare, but it freaks me out to see all that blood on my plate. Medium rare tastes good, but I can only eat so much rare meat before I start feeling weird.

Any type of ground beef needs to be cooked well done, or risk getting sick.

Steaks on the other hand are a little different.  Since they aren't ground up, and are chopped/sliced/fileted, the bacteria can really only lie on the outer parts which have been handled.  Can you get sick still?  Of course it's possible.  But your chances of getting sick on a medium done steak is much less than medium done ground beef.

Depends on the meat. If it is hamburger i like well done, bc i like the crispy burnt taste. Iif it is a steak then i like a little pink, so it is not too tough to chew. I know that the longer it is cooked the healthier, but it is hard to eat steak that is too chewy!

Depends on the type. I agree that ground should generally be cooked medium well but sometimes something like ground sirloin can still have a little pink. Prime Rib or Filet Mignon I like Medium Rare but always use a thermometer.

Steaks are best IMO at medium. I hate dried out meat. Hamburgers have to be well done though.

well done all the way, if I see that red color I can't stand it, I would never eat it rare or medium. if you go to a good restaurant you would find a well done and not dry at all. it depends on the meat cut and how you marinate it.
