Why I like this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson
« on: December 12, 2010, 03:09:23 pm »
And here's the quote:

"He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life."  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why I like this quote because it serves as a reminder for some of my fears that I conquered such as my diagnosis of breast cancer, followed by severe depression, losing my job, losing some "AWESOME" family members, being in debt, and losing my medical insurance.

And what have I learned:

Life goes on!
There is life after breast cancer!
There is life after being terminated!
There is nothing wrong with being depressed and with the right help and support you can overcome it!
One door closes, another door opens!
Help is always available, you just need to know where to go, where to look, and not be afraid to ask for it!

that's a great quote. i have a few books by RWE
and he's very inspiring and gutsy! such a wise man.

have you always felt like that, or has it taken you
time to learn?

there are a couple things in my life that, at times,
i've let consume me. its always amazing when i come
to the revelation that life is BIGGER than those problems.
when i finally get to that point, it seems so easy to
think like that, and i wonder how on earth i couldn't
see it so clearly before!

I have to say based on my experiences within the last two years, I learned that.  It is amazing what a person can come away with once they gone through the experience of being diagnosed with something like breast cancer and then learning about resources and support groups that are very helpful.  I'm surprised at the number of survivors that I've come across.  There are so many resources available that most people do not know about but should.  Legally, I wasn't suppose to have been terminated and the company that I've worked for went about things the wrong way but enough about that for now.  They are in big trouble but that is the least of my worries.  They could take my job away but they can't take away my personality, skills, or passions.  That doesn't mean that I didn't get angry about my situation but I had enough support to help me through it and I knew I could not do it alone.  Once, I looked for help and shared my experiences, I realized that I wasn't alone.  This helped me a whole lot!  Now, in addition to the awful and sometimes unbelievable circumstances that I was in, I found new friends, earned a Reiki 1 Certification, learning a new language, and intend to embark on a new career in Medical Message Therapy.

Wow!  You have come through a lot!  As awful as the breast cancer and all that goes with it is/was, YOU have blossomed and grown in wisdom and strength.  I can almost feel your power.  Thanks for sharing!

The only thing that will stop you from  doing things  is yourself.  You have one life to live and live it like it is your last day on Earth

Thanks for the RWE quote. It goes well with my favorite Winston Churchill quote: "Never ever give up."

Like that quote. We are overcomers. I think God to. I over came Witchcraft, bad marriage because of in-laws. I was delivered from sickness and God restored my marriage. Halleluya!!!!!
