I had the phone, internet & cable package thru Comcast but after 12months, they jacked up the price. Now I pay only for cable with them & it's the same price that I used to pay for all 3!  Feel like I'm getting duped & am looking at other alternatives.  But I don't have home phone service since all 4 of us have cell phones.  And I keep a free prepaid cell phone at the house as well just in case I forget the pay the cell phone bill (we're all on the same plan so if 1 is off, they're all off)  My mom is ill & must have a phone near her at all times so this works well for us with no home phone (extra bill) necessary.

Canceled home service.
Seemed very useless to have a landline when we use cellphones.
One less bill.

We have CenturyLink with phone & internet - no issues with the company.   Our phone line does go out when it rains hard - it will start working again in about 24 hours - very strange.... :dontknow:

Sounds like you have rain getting into your line or box outside.  I had a similar problem when a hail storm broke the window above my wall socket.  My main phone went down for about 24 hours, but the bedroom phone worked fine.  Next time it goes out take a corded phone, open the box outside, where the phone comes into your home and plug the phone in to the socket you find there.  If you get a dial tone the problem is inside the house.  No dial tone means the problem is in the line outside your house and you need to call the phone company.  If you have line backer you can just call for repair service.

I have a land line because we don't get reliable cell service here.  But, it costs a small fortune.  About 60 a month for local and long distance and everywhere is long distance from here.  I always laugh when I see the commercials that show cell coverage....everywhere except for here.

Anyway I am toying with bundling my service with the phone company anyway Cause land line is 60, sat web service is 55 and tv is 75.  Way too much just to stay in touch with the world.  Can't keep this up for long.

Just noticed that the original message here wasn't even a message.  guess we all with discuss anything.  Even a W.  Anyway it made me smile a while.

My phone also goes out when it rains sometimes.  Still trying to fiqure out why. My husband says to 86 the phone but then he would be the first to notice how inconvenient that is.

We keep our AT&T landline because my husband sends info over the phone lines every day but about every other month, I find extra charges and have to call and inquire.  I took long distance off because I don't really need it and that helped my bill.

I recently canceled my home tele service because of to many tele-marketing calls and the high telephone bills I was receiving! I switched to Vonage, I get unlimited long distant calls anywhere in the US, Canada & P Rico all for just $14.99 per month, I've had their service about 3 weeks now with no problems and the reception is crystal clear! Just enter this  number when you apply for Special Savings # 3862691116 I recommend www.Vonage.com for anyone wanting to save some money on their home telephone service!

I have the magic jack and it is a good deal, I rarely use my home phone, but when I do, it is good price. Yes, you do get static once in a while, and sometimes hard to hear, if you can deal with a couple problems here and there the money is worth it.

??? Home phone service is not really needed in today's society. With the invention of cell phones and the internet who needs a home phone. However if you do feel you need it try a digital service, it's usually cheaper than other forms of home phone service.
