Do the checks work at all banks? + how long does it take to be approved

I have heard of problems with check, and was wondering if they work at all banks for all accounts/and if paypal is more reliable, because then i might think about cancelling my check payment.  I was wondering how long approvements of payments take so I would know what kind of time window I was working with if i wanted to cancel it.

The only problem I heard of about checks was from someone that apparently did not have a bank account. I use paypal myself and love it.

I Used Bank Of America..My Bank Since I Have An Account I Went Drive-Tru Gave em my Id & Bank Card They called i guess to Verfy Because left window.I Was thinkin Ut-Oh,but then she came back and gave me my money.
