I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 5 years old.

I have no idea how old I was. I know that I was Christened as a baby and went to church when I was younger until late elementary. I have not gone to church since then, I find most to be very hypocritical and I don't like all of the fake people who pretend to be so much better than everyone else just to do the same things. I still believe in God, but I struggle with specifics of Christianity sometimes.

My father is agnostic, tending more toward atheism (he's the son of a Pentecostal preacher), and my mom is a Baptist that does not attend church because she thinks that Christians are hypocrites.  I never attended church with the exception of weddings and funerals until I was 9, when I made the decision that I wanted to start studying religion.  I attended many different churches on my own and I never found anything that felt 100% right to me.

When I was 16, I made the decision to be baptised in the Church of God, on March 9, 1998, after attending the international youth convention in Cincinnati, but it still didn't feel 100% right to me.  I immersed myself in the experience, singing on Sundays and during special holiday services, leading devotions in my Wednesday night youth group, and volunteering in the community, until, when finding out that I had bought a copy of the Tibetan Book of the Dead at the international youth convention that had led me to my baptism, my pastor informed me that I was hell bound, and I cut ties with the church my senior year of high school.

I continued to study religion, though, and never seemed to find anything that felt right to me, although I knew within my heart and soul that g-d existed.  It was when I stumbled across Reform Judaism that I found my home at the age of 23, and I completed my conversion on Friday, May 13, 2005.  It was upon studying and attending shabbos that I finally saw what I had been hoping to see.  The truth of the matter for me is this: if you wait to believe what you see then you will be waiting a very long time because you don't really see until you believe.

I take religion very seriously, and the quest of education in religion seriously as well.  The only issue I take when it comes to religion is when people try to impose their beliefs on others, as was done to me when the pastor tried to frighten me because I simply owned a copy of the Tibetan Book of the Dead (which I still have as a reminder of how people can be).

One of my earliest memories is being in Sunday school when I was 4 or 5.  If I remember correctly, we had to draw pictures of something from the Bible because I remember using construction paper and crayons.

It seems to me that I don't remember not knowing about God. I think it was something that I was told about from birth. I know our family has talked about God to and around my granddaughter ever since she was born.

I was in 2nd grade, so around 7 years old.  My step mom and dad never went to church so I knew nothing of God. One day, I was next door playing with some playmates.  One of them was talking about Jesus.  I had no idea who that was.  She looked at me like I was the color purple.  She begin to tell me about how Jesus died for our sins. Not knowing what sins were, I ran to my step mom, and asked her about this person Jesus.  I remember telling her that I have to find him and tell him thank you, even though I really didn't comprehend what that meant.  I can remember that she was not very pleased with having to answer these questions.

Soon after, my step mom put me in Sunday School at the Lutheran church.  I was raised Lutheran until around 20 years old, and even had my son baptized Lutheran as a baby (I didn't know anything else).

I heard about my grandma finding a church where they danced in the Spirit, spoke in tongues, and was nothing like the way I thought church should be.  I went to my first service with her, and instantly rejected it, but there was something about those people, and I felt something that I couldn't deny.  Wasn't long until I repented, was baptized in Jesus Name, and received the Holy Ghost (evidenced with speaking in tongues).  Right then I knew that everything in the Bible was real, God was real, the devil was real, heaven and hell were real.  It's been 40+ years since that day, and God is more and more real to me everyday.  He's everything to me, including my best friend.
