A real live tree is the only way to go! All the pain and suffering that comes with it is part of the holiday cheer.
This year we took the kids to a tree farm and cut down our own...it's HUGE! and only $30...can't beat that price.

I prefer real Christmas trees because of its wonderful scent.  I haven't had a real tree in a lot of years.  I do have a pre lit tree that I really like.
