Hmmm.....the Friday proceeding Easter is often termed "Good Friday" or "Black Friday" also (whatever your religion is).  I don't think anybody associates that with black people.

In fact, your the first person that I've ever heard make that connection in my whole life...and I'm a senior citizen. Sounds like you have an axe to grind.....just sayin....

We get here many things for low prices... isn't it good.

I thought that people get some gift money on thanksgiving day and that money is spent the next day.. correct me if I am wrong!!!

It would be nice if gift money was given away at Thanksgiving, but that's not really the tradition.  It's customary to go shopping the day right after Thanksgiving which is always a Friday.  It got the name "Black Friday" for some reason.  I'm sure there's a story behind that.  It's kind of a "kick off" of the Christmas shopping season for a lot of people, and the stores have a lot of sales going on.  Some people have even spent the night before, in line, to be the first in the store when it opens.

I most certainly don't participate in Black Friday at all.  I try to buy and make gifts all year, so when Thanksgiving comes, my shopping is all done.  Christmas has become way too commercial.  I've cut way back on gifts for the family, and give to my 2 favorite charities.

I have never heard of Black Friday refering to the color of a person.  I have also never heard of giving gifts of money on Thanksgiving.  I did do that one year though to the teenage grandkids.  I gave them each some money to go to the Mall of America to buy a few of their own Christmas presents.  I would then keep them and wrap them.  It gave them something to do on that day and also pick out a few things they really liked.

I always thought it was called Black Friday becasue after you got through fighting with all the crowds elbowing their way to get to the merchandise your body was black and blue with all the bruises.

"Black Friday" means that companies are in the "Black" which means they are doing good and making good profits. Of course, now of days, they don't do as good, but it is still a tradition.

I thought it called black friday because the stores opened at the very early morning while it was still dark outside?!

I always heard because it's dark outside when you go shopping on black friday. I have never heard anything about the color of someone skin.
