There is a long list of good things that aren't good to do while driving.  Cell phones are no different.  I don't think that talking while driving is a problem but texting definitely is.  Other than that cell phones are a great thing.

Sometimes I long for the days before cellphones.... ??? ??? ??? But I think it's great to have an emergency phone for traveling.  It seems you practically need a cell phone these days.

My 7 year old told me yesterday she needs a cell phone.  I laughed at her and told her to keep dreaming.

the issue is the users problem. cell phones are a huge leap in technology and an edifying contribution to communication. Education , awareness and understanding  the dangers of using them while operating a vehicle are the educators (parents) responsibilities. But it's truly common sense isn't it?

I agree with OP because cell phones are very useful for communication purposes. But, like everything else, there is a limit everything just as there is a time and place. Texting behavior has become a sort addictive behavior and can be very dangerous and hazardous while driving. If it's that important.. PULL OVER!

I've avoided getting/using a cell phone, but have been giving it some thought.  The phones on the market seem overwhelming; I want a simple phone for emergency calls and/or long distance.  The Jitterbug or the phone service offered through AAA seems all that I need, but I just haven't made the jump yet.  If Verizon keeps raising its phone rates, it will come sooner than later.

I do see decided advantages to have a cell phone when staying in touch with someone while on the move. Don't have much use for the bells and whistles, but that may come in time.

get a prepaid type of phone for emergency issues like an in-the-glove-box kinda thing and keep it charged  ;D

Cell phones and all technology are good things as long as they are not abused.  I believe the biggest concern is the Government's ability to "check" on us whenever we use our gadgets.

i dont think its really a question of good or bad. it's just there. so whether we like it or not, the next generation is going to be very dependant on technology.

They're such a  good thing,.  They're so convenient!! In case of an emergency, there's a way to directly contact someone for help.  You can go on the internet at any moment, pay bills, check weather and schedules.  It's all about convenience.
