Julie,

Yes I'll be glad to get Bob home again.  Especially for Thanksgiving.  I'm hoping this won't affect him for the next event which is in Indianapolis on Dec. 10th.  We are supposed to go because Roy's son, Tom, is racing and that way I can go visit my friend Marilyn and see the city decorated for Christmas.  He said even if they wouldn't let him participate in this race we could still go.  There is going to be a pro-event too with some of the Indy racers driving karts too. Jay Howard is one that is scheduled and he is the one I see the most at the karting events.

I did get a lot done today.  I got the tree decorated and more lights up on the flower box.  Did a bunch of laundry as I washed all the afghans and bedclothes too so I could remake the beds.

Nellie's brother was in bad shape as of last night.  They had made him drink 2 liters of the stuff they give you when you're having a colonoscopy but he hadn't moved anything and was vomiting.  I won't know anything more until tonight...unless I call her during a break today at school.

Prayers going out for the little boy.  In most cases that nickel would have just passed on through.  Let me know how that goes.

Wow it did get warm there.  We were in the high fifties and it felt good but you really had some nice weather.  It was cooler in Vegas than it was here yesterday which seems odd to me.

Make this day a good one.

Kim

Hello,
I am a freelance writer.  I also tutor adults in functional literacy.  I am a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins.  I am the oldest of four.  I have a wonderful two year old niece.  I enjoy going to concerts, watching movies, and shopping for bargains in thrift stores.  I am a Christian.  Jesus Christ is my Savior.  My Mom is my heroine and my best friend!

Hi, it's nice to meet you!  That's a neat job you have with freelance writing.  Tutors are definitely needed to help adults with literacy - that's great you are doing that!  I'm a Christian, too.  Take care and hope you come in again! :)

Hi Kim,

Way to go getting the Christmas tree up and decorated!  That will be a nice, cozy, welcome home surprise for Bob.  The lights are so good at dispelling the gloom of the early darkness this time of year.

I've been slowly but steadily working on washing all of the winter blankets and comforters.  With the couple of cold snaps we've had lately, they came in handy already.  As far as sheets/pillowcases, Veronica and Adam do their own and their own clothes.  We all work on juggling the washer/dryer times.  I do good with mine while they are on their routes.  They usually have free rein of the evenings.

As for the little one, the nickel had gotten past the lodge some late last night.  They think he will be okay about passing it.  Hopefully I'll know tomorrow more about how it's going.  I'm really sorry Nellie's brother is having a difficult time.  I sure hope it gets better for him.

I do believe a head cold has knocked me sideways!  This is my worst flare time for asthma/allergies, and now this thing has hit.  I haven't had a head cold in ages!  The asthma shots just haven't seemed to be of much help so far during this season.  I'm down for the count today, just trying to stay afloat!

Still nothing from Randal.  Roddy mentioned today that maybe, just possibly, he could be thinking that he's going to surprise us all for Thanksgiving and show up at Roddy's mom's with the girls.  I know in his way, he's trying to give me something to hope on, but we both know that may not be the case.  We'll see,...

Did you and Nellie get some bath salts done up?  Veronica and I may try that when she gets paid after Thanksgiving and I have a small check come in.  My mom had another house (we lived there when I was a teen) that she rented out to a family.  A few years ago they wanted to buy it - the best way for them was for me to hold the mortgage - so the payment comes to me.  It's not a lot, but it helps with some of my medical bills and prescriptions, and a couple of things I have to pay - but it's just not enough to make it.  Plus I help with some of the household expenses, so it's used up fast.  I hope and pray that I will eventually get SSDI.

Hope your Monday has gone well, including school.  Have a nice evening!

Julie  :)

Good to hear the little boy might not need surgery.

Sorry you have a cold.  The weather up and down doesn't help.  I think we're better off it if just gets colder and stays that way for the winter.

I hope Randal does surprise you for the holidays.  I just can't imagine he would not contact you!  What hold could that woman possibly have on him to make him neglect his own parents.  Surely he can see past her lies.

Maybe he will see your post on FB about missing the girls and it will tug at his heartstrings.  Good thinking.

Every little bit of money coming in helps.  FC deposited some into my account yesterday.  I had taken Nellie out to eat and paid for her dinner, a little early but for her birthday (December).  Thank you FC for the extra cha ching.

Yes I showed Nellie how to make the bathsalts.  We just did the one batch.  Pachouli oil with blue food coloring.  It's still in the container and I'll leave it there sucking up the scent until just before I put it in the cellophane holders.  That's what I'm giving my teachers for Christmas, along with maybe some cookies or candy.

Jess texted me last night to tell me she is moving again.  She plans on being in an apartment by Christmas, closer to her work.  I didn't figure this move she made would work out.  I just hope she doesn't ask to move in here (if the apartment falls through).  I mentioned it to Bob when he called and he said he doesn't want her to move back in...we need privacy.  The house isn't real little but there are just things that make it very very difficult for more than the two of us to live here.  No room for clothing, the basement gets mold so you can't store stuff, only small kitchen space.  Leaks in the garage and breezeway.  It's just not functional.  Houses built in the 70's didn't have big closets and not enough maintenance equals rot.

I have an appointment with the counselor.  Not looking forward to it.  Nothing seems to get me past the point where I am now.  I still struggle and I'm still dealing with some depression.  School is hitting me hard and the holidays too.  After that I plan on getting my groceries in.  I haven't shopped since before Bob left almost three weeks ago.  I dread the stores during holidays.  I don't like crowds.

Ah well, one must do what one must do and at least it's not snowing and blowing yet.  Get it over with and then I won't have to go again on any major spree until it's time to Christmas shop and with the little bit of money I have...that isn't going to be too big of a deal.  :)

I went to a great baby shower yesterday and the new mommy got a lot of nice things for the new baby.  I crocheted a blanket and a hat that looked like a little frog's head.  I think the blanket was a hit.  I want to start making and selling these little blankets after the holidays.  I hear Etsy is a good place to sell your home made crafts.  Does anyone else have any experience selling online?

I make crocheted and kintted blanket to for years for my family, and I would like to know how to start a business selling my thing I make to.

Kim,

When I posted my status about missing the girls, I even changed the settings on that post to public just in case any of them would see it.  We'll see...

I'm not totally surprised about Jess moving either.  Even though she says she's getting an apartment, I would be leery of what she may really have planned.  It sounds like Bob is with you on this now so I really hope she doesn't ask.

I hope the appointment with your counselor goes well.  I know you are struggling, but I also know how you keep moving on.  I empathize totally with the depression part - it's kind of hard to crack right now.  I've been on certain meds now for it for several years and I honestly wonder if I'm becoming immune to them.  Or if they are conflicting with other meds I'm taking.  I think I will check and see if there are any conflicts or side effects with the Xolair shots.  I feel like some of yours will ease up when you are more secure in your situation with you knowing certain things have worked out.  Also, school is hard and making a career change is not easy.  Keep hanging in there.

I'm doing most of my Christmas shopping online on Thanksgiving morning online through Belk's.  We won't leave to go out of town until about 10:00 that morning, so I'm planning on getting online about 6:00 that morning.  Belk's has this sale going from 3:00 am to 1:00 pm online before the actual in-store same sale on Friday.  I did Christmas for all of us last year on my Belk and their pymts are low enough that I can handle them and get most paid off before Christmas shopping again.  I have the pages already marked.  I can't do much, but it will be enough for us and a couple of others.

Talk to you later!

Julie :)

Hi.  I know about Etsy and there is always Ebay.  The only other thing I can think of it going to the various craft fairs and selling or starting something on Facebook.  If I could have made my living doing crafts I would have been a happy camper but it's a hard business to make a living from.

You should post a couple of pictures on here of what you make.  I'd love to see them.  I'm always up for a pattern exchange too.

Good luck.

Julie,

Yes be careful with those meds for depression.  I was on Zoloft for quite a while and when I tried to quit cold turkey I went through sheer hell.  It was a long process but I kicked it and now all I take are my vitamins.

The appointment with the counselor went fine.  She is turning us over to couple's counseling with another person.  Her schedule was full until around Christmas so it's going to be a while before we get in.  Then I don't know when his next trip is coming up so it could be even longer than that.

I got my groceries out of the way.  I got 50 dollars cash for my one grand-daughter's Christmas gift.  She is home from California so I'm going to give her the money when I see her over Thanksgiving.  I know they can use it now.  I'm taking 5 ten dollar bills and folding them into a star.  I got the idea from the foldsomething.com website.  It isn't much but I set my budget for 25 dollars for each person and that will be for her and her husband.  Even at that budget it is going to cost me a pretty penny to get through Christmas.  I had all those car repairs come up last month.  I just can't seem to save!  Groceries were 129 yesterday and I'm not even fixing Thanksgiving dinner!  I tried to get things that my grandkids would eat and my son is vegetarian so I had to buy some extra's for him.  That's a third of what I bring in in one week!  I had to buy Bob a new sweatshirt too.  Jess had bought him a gray sweat outfit for his birthday and I threw on the shirt the other day when I was in the basement because it was cold.  I went to put a load of whites in to wash and yep...splashed bleach all over his new sweatshirt.  When I told him about it he laughed and said I didn't need to worry about it because he just wears it around the house but I felt bad.  I'll wear the old one anyhow as it's comfie.

Anyhow back to Christmas.  We are giving my son one of those Cruze tablets that Bob has been renovating and Jen is getting my old computer monitor.  Her's broke a while ago and she has just been using her Cruze that we gave her for her birthday.  We are getting a tv for ourselves (this week actually as they are on sale) so that frees up a bigger monitor in the bedroom.  I'll take that 19 inch and give Jen my 17.  Everybody else is getting gift cards.  Everyone is too picky about what they want and I'd rather let them do their own shopping rather than have things that lay around unused or put them through the return process.

I have a few trinket gifts that I've picked up at sales and I'm making some candy, cookies and the bath salts and that will be it.  I got Bob a Tshirt online the other day that is geared toward karting and there is an aviation shirt I want to get him.  Other than that he needs some undies, socks and a couple of pairs of cargo pants and that's a wrap.

We are having Thanksgiving dinner at school today for 5.00.  The money goes toward one of the class competitions travel schedule.  I'm also donating some canned goods for a charity at school.  School finishes up at 3 and when I get home the troops will come pouring in.

It's raining here now but I think we're expecting some flurries on Thanksgiving day.

Nellie's brother had his surgery yesterday and is doing fine.

I'm praying you hear from your son this weekend.  Keep me posted.

Hi Kim,

I'm glad Nellie's brother is doing okay.  I'm also glad your counselor appointment went well.  Hopefully the couples' counselor will be good for you both.

I love the idea for the money star!  You always find the neatest things to do or make!  You've done great with your Christmas gift plans for everyone.  Gift cards are super gifts for anyone who likes to be able to get what they want where they want.

As for Bob's sweatshirt, that sounds like something I would do, lol!  I always like to wear Roddy's warm long-sleeved shirts or sweat shirts in the winter because they are roomy, warm, and comfy.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I'm really glad you are able to see a lot of your loved ones, even if different places.  Maybe you'll enjoy a snow flurry day!  Just be careful on the road!  Have a great day, my friend! :)

I just got a new youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/88martyp?feature=mhum#p/c/58193202E3D3F24C

Very cool idea.  That will be very helpful to people that are just starting out and don't know what to do.  It's not easy when you first get started but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature.

Just popping in quickly.  My son, my daughter and family, and Bob all arrived last night.  My son and I were going to go to see the Muppet movie earlier in the evening around 7 before the rest of the troops got in but he didn't get here until 20 after and we were both tired.  We opted for watching a comic on Netflix and both of us laid down for a nap before the others got here.  Bob got in around 11 and Tanis after midnight.

I forgot to unset my alarm so here I am up at 4:30 while the rest of the house is still asleep.  Oh well I can get my routine out of the way before the whirlwind for one bathroom begins.

Wishing you a great Thanksgiving.

Hi Kim,

I know you are having a busy day with your family.  I'm really glad for you!  I ended up not going with them today.  This headcold and my chest/coughing is still a little too much.  I didn't want to pass on anything to anyone and at the same time with my immune system so low, I didn't want anything extra.  I'm still struggling with the emotional end so I also didn't want to pull anyone down, even though I know they understand.  I baked chicken wings with a vege and there's a pumpkin pie and whipped cream in the fridge.  So I'm fine.  They will be bringing lots of food home, too.

Enjoy your family!  I'll catch up some more with you later!!

Julie  :)

Oh Julie I just want to reach through this screen and give you a big hug, have a piece of pumpkin pie with you and then get in the car and go get your DIL and give her a piece of my mind!

I hope your evening turned out better than the picture I was seeing when you wrote to me.

We ate dinner with Jen, her boyfriend and his mom and dad.  Lovely people.  I think his mom and I could be good friends.  My daughter went with her inlaws for the day/evening and then returned here at midnight so we can go do a little shopping today.  My son stayed here and when I got back I fixed him a vegetarian fare of soy chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing made with vegetable broth and some gravy made with the same.  He and I ran to Big Lots and Kmart but all I bought were some night light bulbs and some new nail polish.  I'm not really into the black Friday shopping but I'll go with them for a while today to be sociable.

Jess and Amya will be coming by at some time today and I'll fix my lasagna.  I think my son is leaving to pick his girl up around 11.
Bob has to drive the panel truck back to Erie and pick up his car so he gets to avoid the shopping hubbub too.

Tomorrow at noon we are scheduled to meet with my grand-daughter Kaleigh and her husband around noon for lunch and then my daughter will leave for home in WV.  Kaleigh will be flying back to Calie on Sunday.

Here's to a better day today my friend.  Hugs... :angel11: :cat:
