Hi Kim,

I'll try and take a decent picture of a sheet of handbell music and post it to FB.  I'll try to do it when I finish my paid things this evening and if you don't see it tonight, try tomorrow.

You are looking forward to this weekend, lol!  I'm happy for you because I know how frustrated you have been.  I can already feel the relief through your list of things you'll finally be able to do again.

You were speaking of your little friends, the mice.  I've been told by the locals here that yep, they love the country and the acres of land.  We occasionally have a visitor or two, too.  It's amazing how tiny and cute these are.  We know when we have one because of how all 3 cats act, sniffing and crouching, watching the stove and refrigerator.  The last time it happened, Roddy found the area they were coming in through from the outside to behind the stove and refrigerator.  He did something to block it and we haven't had them since.  But every once in awhile, you can see a couple in the back field close to the trees.  I hope you get that worked out.  The one you mentioned that was dead standing straight up and looking over the edge kind of sounds like a Tom & Jerry cartoon, except Jerry would be faking the dead part, lol.

Sometimes I think I should take a course on allergies, lol.  I've researched a lot online, trying to understand some of the things that bother me, and what recommendations are offered.  I like Web MD - they are in-depth, including branching off with other health issues, and how they react with each and how it can affect people.  Thanks for thinking of me with allergies, at school, lol!

I went ahead and got my flu shot today.  They have them free at CVS where we are, so I took advantage of it.  It will also be a week before my asthma shots.  Hopefully no problems will arise.

We did hear from our son today.  He's getting to leave the ship earlier than November.  He's not sure of the date and time yet, but he's looking forward to it.  He also received some kind of medal of honor that only chiefs usually get.  I need to ask Roddy to tell me more about what it means; then I can tell you exactly what it was for.  He caught us up on how the girls are doing.  I'm so thankful he's keeping up with us, even though DIL doesn't know for sure he is, or she would have a cow...

Have a great evening and a super Saturday!  I'm looking forward to the birthday party for the two year old tomorrow.  It will be more enjoyable with the cooler weather since it's outside.

 ,

Julie   :cat:

Julie,

That's great news about your son!  How long has it been since you've seen him?  Maybe you can get all the stuff with the kids worked out and see them for the holidays.  I know that would make you happy.

Well let the moving begin.  Today is the day!

It's raining here this morning.  It's been a week of rain and it's been rather chilly.  I'm hoping for some Indian summer within the next few weeks so we can get the last bit of painting done.  I don't know if you saw the morning glory pictures I posted on FB but you can see some of the trim work on the window and flower box in that picture, in addition to one of the four barn stores I painted two-tones, green and brown.  We still have the tallest parts of the overhang, the frame around the breezeway door the one side of the house and that windows on the back by the deck.  I can reach all of the back windows and finish those myself but Bob will have to do the ladderwork to finish the front and side over hang.  He won't be going on the road in October so I'm hoping he can chisel out the time to get it done.  We still have to winterproof the motor home and get the pool covered.  We have the cover ordered and it should be here in a couple of days but he is trying to clean up an algae problem in the meantime.  The water looks like pea soup.  Geesh it seems like just a couple of weeks ago we were opening it.  Honestly I wonder at whether the expense and time of maintaining it is worth it for all the time we actually spent in it.

Hope your Saturday is enjoyable.  I'm going to finish up with my homework this morning so I can allow time for errands and helping my son move tomorrow.  I hope everyone stays put for a while!  Packing boxes are not my favorite thing these days.   :BangHead:

Hi and welcome!  Blogging can take time that you might not have, I agree.  Maybe, once in awhile, you'll be able to get more done on your blog.  In the meantime, drop in when you can and keep us posted on how you're doing.  It's nice to meet you!  :)

Hello!  It's nice to meet you!  I enjoy Fusion Cash for several reasons, including earning cash and bonuses, making new friends and blogging with them, getting involved in a few debates, and browsing through the forum.  I hope you will come in more and join in - it's always nice to make a new friend!  :)

Hi Kim,

We last saw our son, as far as visiting, at Christmas last year at my MIL's.  I saw him briefly in Feb. when he and I met half way between where we live, so I could pick up the girls for a weekend.  We did find out that he received a Commendation Medal - I told him I am extremely proud of his commitment and duty to the Navy and that it shows the same to the higher ups for them to select him.  He's supposed to fly out from the ship in a couple of weeks - we'll know more on that as soon as he does.

When you read this, the moving would have already happened.  I hope it went well for SD and that you were able to do what you wanted to do in order to help your son move tomorrow.  It doesn't seem that long ago you were helping him move, lol.  I don't remember if you said or not, but is his job flexible with him moving?  I wish them the best with her new job!

Yes, I love your pictures on FB.  You have a special knack for creativity with things like that!  I enjoy those kinds of things, but haven't been able to keep up through these past few years after I got so sick.  But there's always hope, right?  And with the cooler weather coming in, that's a plus for me!  Speaking of cooler weather, the outside birthday party at the park was great.  It was in the 60s to 70s with a nice breeze.  I found a spot under the trees and it was really nice.  The little fella had the best of fun.  I'll try to post him, his brother, and another little one to my FB page tonight.  I am coughing more tonight, but I figured that would happen being out like that.  But, that's okay, it was wonderful being out in nature!!

I remember when our kids were young, Roddy and I were looking at the idea of a pool.  We had some friends who had one and it always looked nice.  But the hubby worked from home and was always on it.  Roddy worked so much overtime then and I was over-working between school, church, and avon, trying to be the best mommy I could be, not realizing at the time I was making myself sick.  We decided there was no way we could keep up with the things like what you spoke about, so we didn't get one.  Oh well...  But I did sign the kids up for the Y for swimming lessons for several summers.  And with 2 of my 3 kids having arthritis, swimming was a great therapy for them, too.

Well, I'm off to eat Subway (tuna), so I will see you tomorrow!  Pamper yourself a little!

Julie  :)

Time is a real commodity for sure.  I just lke having a place to make new friends, chat a bit and earn some extra money in the process.  This blog is an easy way to earn my three dollars a month on FC and it's become a habit to stop by and say hello to my friends.

Stop by again!

There really isn't a question.  Just a blog and a way to make new friends, a one stop place to say hello and earn your 3 dollars a month for posting in the forum.  I hope you stop by again and tell us a little more about yourself.

Julie,

I saw some of the pictures you pasted to FB of the birthday boy.  He looks to be having a great time.  I'm glad you enjoyed the day too.

That's great about your son's Medals.  I'm sure you are very proud of him and excited.

I love being creative and haven't done nearly what I would in a different situation.  I haven't really felt too grounded the last year or so and it's hard to commit yourself to something if you don't think it you will be around to reap the benefits of the effect created.

The SD took a full load in the moving van and several by truck but still has a lot of moving to do.  There is still loads of stuff in several rooms, basement, breezeway, bedroom, garage and car port and a little of something in every room.  I really couldn't get much done by way of reorganizing because she didn't completely empty any one room.  I did a little straightening here and there and did clean the hairspray from the bathroom counter and floor and rearrange the mess on the kitchen table and stove.  We were totally overcrowded in those areas and she is messy about herself so even that little bit felt good.  Once I am able to get our clothing back where it belongs, rearrange my decorative items that had to be put up to keep them from being broken I will feel back together again.  I hope we don't get used as a storage unit for the remainder of the winter.  If so I will be packing for her.

My son was supposed to start school on October 3rd for massage therapy.  Because of this change of job and the move he will need to reapply to a school nearer to where they will be living and then try to find part-time work that coincides with his school schedule so for right now he is a stay at home husband and has done and will do the majority of the move himself.

I'm supposed to go to help today but don't know what I can do to help much as I'm having a problem with my right hand.  I write and type a lot at school, crocheted a bit more than I should have Thursday night and was suffering the effects yesterday.  I could barely lift a coffee cup but I'll do what I can to help.  I want to be home early enough to get rested for school tomorrow.

Subway tuna is a favorite of mine too.  I fixed Chicken Chow Mein last night but we'll probably eat out tonight.  I'll be on the run all day and he'll be at work until fairly late.  No telling where we'll go.  We have tried about all of the restaurants in the area more than once though!

Talk to you later.

Hi Kim,

Wow!  I had no idea SD had so much stuff!  I could see having a lot for her daughter, with clothes and toys, etc., but didn't even imagine she would have enough herself to help fill up the rooms.  I'm with you - hope she's able to get that out of there and not leave it for storage...

I'm sorry about your hand.  Have you ever had carpal tunnel?  I had surgery on my right hand, but haven't followed through with my left hand yet.  It got to where I couldn't do normal things with my right hand because of the pain, and I wasn't used to having to depend on my left hand for things like brushing my hair and teeth, writing, etc.  Mine has been caused by all of the typing, filling out invoices by hand for personal home businesses, directing choirs, playing the piano and guitar, etc.  It all caught up with me after so much of it.  I feel for you and hope it gets better.  Is that your writing hand?  Pamper it as much as you can!

The friends who are parents of the birthday boy told us today that he was up at 4:00 this morning wanting to play with the John Deere tractor we got him.  He had already gotten the big one from family that he just loves driving.  We gave him the small one for play.  After he opened it yesterday, he loved it.  He's a handsome and sweet little one!

That's kind of hard for your son having to reapply to one where they have moved.  I hope things work out for him quickly.

Have a great start to the new week.  Talk to you later!

Julie  :)

Hi blogger!  I just turned 55 last week and I am currently laid-off.  I have been an educator most of my life and truly have enjoyed it.  I was shocked about the lay-offs.  I wish I would have been more frugal in the past, yet, there is nothing like the present.  Medical Assisting is one of those highly employable skills, so the best to you!  I just joined Fusion Cash in the hopes of adding to my monthly income.  Do you have any suggestions on how I can make this profitable and fun?
Thanks! Peace56

Hi Peace56,

Boy do I feel for you!  I too was laid off at age 55 and although I knew it was coming for about 2 years it still was a shock to my system to lose the job I loved and had worked for so many years.  It's tough too when you are at that between time of preparing yourself for retirement and the economy being tough.

FC and anywhere you can earn or save a few cents can really come in handy.  I personally just do the daily clicks to earn my money, along with a few videos.  I never seem to have much luck with the surveys.  I get part way through them, only to have wasted my time and then being told that I don't qualify.  There are other paid sites though and perhaps if you get various sites going you can earn a bit more.

I make about half of what I earned on unemployment and had a lot of lifestyle changes to make in order to get by but I'm managing and I think you will too.  Don't let yourself get depressed.  We actually were counseled on the depression that can ensue after a major layoff.  I threw myself into projects around the house and doing some of the things that had been put on the back burner for so many years.  I lucked out in that my job was outsourced to another country so I qualified for TAA benefits and have gone back to school.  Maybe you can get some additional certification through the unemployment office that will help you get your next job.  Keep busy, keep your chin up and stop by often and talk with us.  It helps to have people to toss ideas and thoughts around with.   :D

Be good to yourself.

Julie,

I don't know if my hand is suffering from carpal or arthritis.  It was actually pretty good yesterday.  I managed to drive to Erie and help the kids unload the Uhaul.  They have moved so much they have it down to a science and learned that the best practice is to pack smaller, lighter boxes and it went pretty quickly with four of us.

We finished up early enough that my son and I went to the local mall and walked around.  He is happy being back in a city again and having so many activities at his finger tips.  Being raised in the city he was used to entertaining himself with museums, zoos and other attractions and was finding small town living to be a bit stuffy.  Erie is an easy city to drive in and that's a real perk.

Their little apartment is so cute!  The guy that owns it owns a funeral home and is good about repairs and keeping the place looking nice.  It is a charming old house with the most beautiful beveled glass windows, a built in pantry and even a canning cupboard in the basement.  It had all been painted white last week and they are painting the outside this week.  I took some pics of the windows and pantry and will post to FB this morning.

His GF will be working at the emergency room and she can catch the bus from their street and will pay 35 a month to commute.  That alone will save them about 400 a month as she had a really long drive to her last job and it was eating them up in gas money.  He will stand a better chance at a job close by and their are several schools and colleges close by.  He is real close to Gannon College but I'm not sure if they offer anything for massage therapy training.

I'm excited about visiting them often to see some of the attractions in the area too.  They will get more snow in the outlaying areas from the lake effect but right in the city isn't usually too bad.  Now we have two of our kids living along Lake Erie.  One in Erie and one in Cleveland.  Another one along the Allegheny river and one in West Virginia where there are a lot of white water activities.  Lots of places to kayak!

Gotta run.  Want to post those pictures to FB and get ready for school.

Kim
